New Insane FE hydro, or Phil Thomas Stealth hydro?

I'm going to build one of these. I'll prob. use the hardware frome Insane boats. Looks good and is very simple. Pros of the Insane: Looks to handle very well, and is fast. Cons: UGLY! Phil Thomas, pros: Looks great, I'm sure it will handle great like all Phil's hydros do. Cons: I will have to sand and paint it. Not that big of a deal for me. I'd like to hear your opinions on both. What would YOU build? I just can't make up my mind. Price is about the same for both shipped as well.

I just received my Insane FE30, and build quality is really impressive. To me it looks better in person than it does in pics, but I liked it in pics too. haha

Anyways, I had Jeff add CF to the bottom and sponsons of mine before joining the hull, but I've heard its really strong without it also. Either way, I'm extremely happy with mine just from the initial inspection.

I have a PT have not built it yet but it is Nice, Top Notch stuff, I have seen one run and they are Sweet. I'm impressed with them. My personal choice is the Phil Thomas, I can't say anything negative about the insane as I have only seen the videos I will be seeing a couple at the FE nats in 3 weeks.

If nothing else, it's encouraging for the hobby to have choices ! Regarding the looks of the FE 30, I do know that the single most important priority during the design stage of the FE 30 was to come up with a super fast, stable and efficient hull that embodied the lessons learned from building four generations of race-winning gas boats . The FE 30's design has close tie to Jeff's Generation IV racer, and my time hanging with the IC crowd gives me the impression that performance trumps looks with these folks. I'll say this 'tho - the Gen IV hydro is one wicked looking boat in person !

Really, I don't think the Insane is UGLY, just not as pretty as the PT Stealth. I just ordered the PT hull! Going to try out that new Leopard motor in her.

Yeah, Ive got a Leopard motor on the way for my PT Stealth also. Can't wait for some other guys to start builds on this hull. I've got a couple things where I'm not sure which way to go.

Do you know the size of the bullets on that motor? Also, will a single 4s 5000mah pack fit up front in this hull? He says it'll be done by the 1st! Wohoo!

4mm bullets, I'd swap them out for 5.5 at least. I'm going to be ordering the PT hydro as well. Then I'll have both. Just gotta wait for my significant other to give me the go ahead...

Don't know about the bullets on the motor. Yeah I think a 4s pack will fit. It's hard to explain but in the middle of the tub in the front it has a little recess. It sits lower in the middle than on the sides near the sponsons. I have 2-2s packs and not sure where to put esc. It gets crowded fast in the front of the hull trying to reach the right balance. Man I wish my kid could find my camera to get up some pictures.

Hey post some pics of the PT hull! I've been waiting. I've seen all the ones on the net now but I'd like to see some others as well.

It is a nice looking hull....epoxy finish.... pinholes...a lot of time to finish properly and it seems to have an open cowl?

Just sent my kids on a search for my camera. So one of 2 things is gonna happen either I'm on the 11 o'clock news charged with assault or I'll have pictures up later tonight. Wish me luck.

Very few pinholes. I only found a couple even after a coat of primer. No opennings in the cowl.
