Jan... I'm not sure what you are asking?

If you are talking about the designs... both are my designs. The Stiletto the whole thing, and the Geico everything from the deck down, including the hardware.

I haven't had the final version of the Geico in my hands yet, however, but I've talked to the ProBoat Product Manager and have seen pics and the video. They did a good job, from what I can tell.

"They" is our competition across town. And I'm sure they had no intentions of missing ship dates either.

Hang tight, the boats left the factory a few weeks ago and are on the way here. Unfortunately, they use container ships to move product thousands of miles instead of hydroplanes :) Then they have union guys unloading the ships and moving them to truck/train/etc. to the warehouse. It all just takes time.

I'm impatient too! I drove them both (Geico and Stiletto) before and loved it, now I can't wait to get my hands on one again!

When they are ready to ship, you better believe we'll let you know!

Yes, that's what I wanted to know, if the final product came out as per your instructions or if they changed something down the bureaucratic ladder...
;)
Good to know it's still your design.

Nope... it's as we wanted it to be. This delay has nothing to do with the design that I know of. They were having labor issues in China. Not sure the details, but apparently there are some Chinese holidays that play havoc on some factories this time of year.

I too, would have LOVED to have a Geico earlier on. My race season is getting down to the end (son's football starts up tomorrow, so time is going to get scarce), but it is what it is. Hopefully soon....

Thanks for the explanation for the delay, they are both very nice boats, you did a terrific job , I'll buy both the Stiletto and the miss Geico, its just a bummer they will arrive at the end of our nice weather, i just hope we have some sunny winter days so the ponds will thaw out enough to run them.

Why do you say that? I you suggesting the date on horizon is wrong? I would love to buy this boat if it comes out next week, but I dont know why horizon would list the release of their own boat at a later date than what is expected...Seems like it would negatively impact sales.:confused1:

Andy do I have to have the new DX3S to "bind and drive" with the included rx? Any less expensive tx's I can use? :Praying:I still use my old banged up DX2. I would like to upgrade my receivers to the marine versions but rx's + a DX3S is a pretty heavy bill:crying:

AndyKunz
08-23-2010, 02:39 PM
Hi Keith,

If your DX2 has a boat logo on it near the car, then you can use your existing tx. If it doesn't you need to change either the rx or the tx. I strongly recommend you get a Marine-compatible transmitter so that you can use it on the water reliably. The Marine radios have a long antenna lead, but only the last inch or so is "active" antenna - the rest is just a cable to allow you to position it properly.

You don't need to change your receivers if you get the DX3S. It still works just fine with the SR-type receivers. It supports both Marine and Surface protocols.

Guys... if you want a less expensive, but equally as effective, Spektrum radio setup, look into the DX3E as well. Not all the bells and whistles of the DX3S, but nicely priced and same performance.

Andy

Just to clarify,
1. can the unused wire be coiled and tie wrapped inside the hull?
2. how high does the last inch or so have to extend? Is higher better?

AndyKunz
08-24-2010, 04:40 PM
The unused wire can be coiled, but NO SMALLER THAN 2" DIA COIL! Otherwise it breaks internally and it's not fun (especially in an airplane, don't ask how).

The higher the better for the active portion. We made the antenna as long as we did because I needed it that long for my Sport and rigger hulls to get it out. Also, it works best when that portion is vertical.
