You can search the forum for username "Doby" He has done this conversion already and its pretty impressive. He has some video as well. If I can find it I'll post the link.

I dont know much about the monster 200, but I think you're combo is a good economical choice!

12s puts you're unloaded rpm's just under 29000. Thats right where you wanna be. Whats the max amp rating on that motor??

It doesnt say what about a collet ??

What is the motor shaft diameter? I'm pretty sure the rio 51 uses 1/4 inch flex cable. I hope its not the one with the square end. OSE might have what you need. If not contact Jeff Wohlt @ rcraceboat.com. He can make you something for sure.

What about a mount ??

I think the rio 51 has 5" spacing on the rails. Check out http://southriverrcboats.com/shop/catalog/browse?shop_param=shop_overview_pager%3D2%26cid%3D 16%26 They have a bunch of rail mounts for brushless motors.

Brushless are you going to convert yours ??

That's a great question 01 :confused2:
I love the runtime and sound of these 2 strokes
but the cool factor of brushless has me thinking
I would love to try a cheap KB45 700kv motor on 10s

I am trying to think of what gear ratio to use in 47inch mono, i know i am going to gear down a kb45 10xl 1200kv and it should be at about 15500rpm with a prather 275 (74.9mm and 4.3in pitch) and with pitch and diameter calculations the motor should see about as much work as a graupner 45-48mm in direct drive witch i am hopping won't break anything. After it is geared down at the prop will be around 705kv so i was very interested. All i need to do is seal the hatch and it is ready so i will let you know how it runs! I am getting all the bugs out with the kb45 then i am going to put dual 600 heli motors that are rated for a little more power than one kb45 and have them go to one outdrive. i have never seen it done in a boat this big (unless they were inline gassers) so i am pretty excited to see how it does.

That looks nice! hmmmm And yours on 10s is around the same rpm as i am going for. Do you know how many amps you are pulling? I know that big 3080 has can handle a lot more than a kb45 so i might be in trouble with how i have it now.

My 3080 is a 12 turn, rated at around 490 KV if I remember correctly.
Never checked the amps.

I will buddy :beerchug:
I really would love to find a different muffler for it to get a bit more power out of the G260PUM motor
20-25min runtimes should be a hoot
I'm going to break in the motor sometime this Saturday :rockon2:

The problem is for me were i run i cant use a gas boat so i cant drive it anywhere except the sea which made the exhaust rust and i had to buy a new one its just ruiining the boat. Time to go to the best power source !! :cool2::thumbup::rockon2::beerchug:

Same for me. I had a shockwave 55 that I really liked, but the fisherman where I ran really hated it. So I ended up getting rid of it. Now that I have a little more f.e. experience under my belt, I'd like to do a larger scale brushless build.

Brushless01

Same its also kinda choppy most the time so the supervee is upside down the whole time. I think the Rio would be a great base for an Fe boat.

You don't have to go that big to have a boat that stays right side up in the chop. The SV is a Very unstble hull at speed. It needs to be driven well to stay right side up, even on glass. There are a lot of smaller scale hulls that will do well in a bit of chop.

You can get the older version of the rio 51 fairly cheap now that the updated version is out. I like the hull design. I know there are other boats that are smaller and probably will handle better. I just like "wow" factor of a big hull.

Brushless01

Im getting a Delta force 29 knock off that I hope will handle the chop a lot better.

Try a CC racing Powermaster Pipe. They are a little pricey but the one I have runs great on my stock Zen. They are made out of aluminum and the two inch band gives the motor a wider power band which makes it a bit easier to tune. Great for a gas newbie like myself.

do I just need to put a hole in the back of the boat to exit the exhaust?

You can cut a hole in the transom or cut out the cowling, or do a little of both. It depends on how far the motor is mounted from the transom and whether or not you mind running the pipe on the outside. On my Sniper, the transom is just too small to run the pipe under the cowling. Mounting the pipe on the outside keeps the air under the cowl cooler and allows a header with less bends which will give you more power. But those that do not race may think the pipe looks butt ugly. I got used to it. LOL

Brushless55

That does look kinda cool..
I would rather have the pipe hid under the cowl
