Removing the battery trays from the BJ BR is a good way to shed a little weight and lower the center of gravity. Securing the batteries after the trays are out with velcro is hit and miss because the bottom of the hull is not flat. A piece of wood can be epoxied in to make a flat mounting place for the batteries but I found an easier way.

I bought a pack of 3M mini hooks. Discard the sticky pieces, you wont need them.
Just epoxy them into the hull on either side of where you want the battery and use a few rubber bands to secure it. The battery WILL NOT come out no matter how hard you flip it.

Great post !!! I also added non skid drawer liner to keep the batteries from sliding and to lift them up a bit so they don't sit in any water that gets in the hull.

Tried your rubber band hold down idea in conjunction with a little velcro and it works great. I'm still able to move the batteries fore/aft for water conditions with the velcro and the bands keep them in position.

Good Tip! Should work in other hull types as well.
