Ran my EKOS today on 4S, 36mm Pro Machined Props and smoked a motor. It was only a matter of time and expected on 4S (and good excuse to upgrade motors).

Stats:

Run time: 1min 55
Max speed: 70.1km/h
LT motor temp: 78.6C
RT motor temp: 27.1C
LT ESC temp: 28.1C
RT ESC temp: 27.6C
Battery temp: 36.0C
Amp draw:?

I usually run on 3S lipos on 36mm props and reach max speeds of around 66km/h and good temps.

I really don't know why one motor ran very hot and the other was cool?

Any suggestions..?

Could be any number of reasons. Do both props spin the same by hand?? Even a little driveline friction can cause one of those stock motors to burn. Blow through the cooling lines as well. One side may have blockage. Well, good thing is you dont have to worry about those motors any more and you can get yourself a good set of feigaos!

Theres also been talk of bad solder joints on the motor wires inside the can.

Checked the cooling lines pre launch, greased and checked the drive lines by hand turning the props to make sure there was no unnecessary resistance. In fact the right side drive line had slightly more resistance but the left motor went? I haven’t heard about solder joints in the motors but doesn’t surprise me. I have also heard that the motor screws are too long from factory and can short the motor? Anyway looking forward to updating the motors – tossing up between the feigao 9xl or 10xl 380’s?

Simple. Others may disagree. I do not care. THEY ARE NOT 4S MOTORS! That is all. No way around it.

Lol wow damn even. My question is where the motors snug in the mounts. Did u wide open throttle the whole time. These are not speed run motors. I always do a cool down half throttle pass. Like scott had told me 36mm might be to big for load reasons so I went with 32mm with no issues. Sorry to hear that.
On another note just picked up a thunder tiger stadium truck. Based on the rc10 t3 which associated owns so it's the same body and parts. Ran it on crappy nihm. Was not happy. So put a 3s pack wow that 17t picks up. Thank god I have a clutch on it lol. Blew the esc when I tried 4s just by plugging it in. Lol got 40mph with lipo and 23 with nihm. Motor is fine. Looking for a brush esc that will handle 7.2v-14.7v but will only run the 3s. Bad ass lil truggy.
