The 4074 2200kv Leopard motor is now instock.

I expect more sizes(including the 56mm diameter motor) and kv options in about 1 month or so.

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=leo-7074-2200kv

I also have the mounts for these instock
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ose-80600
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ose-80610

And will have water jackets to fit inbetween that mount in about 2-3 weeks.

I literally just saw that you had these about 3 minutes ago. I'm gonna have to give one a whirl in that new Insane hydro!

Steve

I have a Genisis with the stock 36mm motor. Do you know if the RR portion of the 40mm mount will fit in the stock Genisis mount ?. If it does , this would make it alot eaiser to up grade to a Leopard or Castle motor.

The mounting stands are the same width apart.

The mounting stands are the same width apart.

That is great to know. So i can just buy a new 40mm mount from you, & replace the RR piece when i buy a Castle/Neu or Leopard. Have you tried to mount a Neu or Castle motor on the 40mm mount, to make sure they will fit ?.

Steven, how much do you expect the 56mm motor to cost? :Peace_Sign:

So when are you going to have more water jackets in stock for the 4074? I'm itching to buy a 4074, but don't want to get stuck paying shipping twice.

Do we have any feedback for these motors? they look very interesting!
Steven any chance you stock the 4074 1400KV for 6S application?

I have the 4074 2200kv on 4S in my new Insane hydro and all I can say is once I get a higher amp esc for it with the right prop I think I'm going to be knocking on 70mph! With no water cooling after 3 min run with a modded ABC H5 prop motor was 129 degrees! It's scary fast!

good to know! what ESC do you have?

I'm not sure to tell you the truth. It looks like a water cooled kontronik 120 but it's not. It runs very good with it but I don't wanna prop up to high and smoke it in my brand new boat. I'd like a hydra 240 or similar esc with more headroom for more aggressive props.

Nice...now I can rationalize what to put in my Insane Hydro when it gets here. I was thinking a UL-1 combo, but the Leopard on 4S looks nice, especially since I have a couple of 4S packs and several pairs of 2S packs.

It's a really nice motor! I drove Tony's with the UL-1 motor and it runs excellent and I had planned on putting that in mine.

But after having seen the speed difference with the Leopard it's kinda hard to change the motor to make it 10+ mph slower!

Can't wait to find a nice aluminum water jacket that fits!

Steve, do you have any other aluminum jackets that fit the 4074? I see that one is made to fit with the mount you have for it but I just need one to work on my insane mount and also your OSE aluminum mount. As long as it fits I don't care about the length.

Thanks,
Brent.

i may have missed the boat on these, but were do they come from, are they being made by the Chinese company who's doing the castle/neu motor, sure looks like one.
i know acouple companies use the neu case and do ther own wind/magnet
steve not looking to buy from the source just curious as to who makes them

Sorry I dont.

Are you sure? I thought the ID for this would be identicle to the specific Leopard cooler, this is just longer.

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ham-castle1515

I thought the Castle Neu 1515 -2200Kv had same motor OD as the Leopard???

Am I correct here? I was going to buy this one anyway since I don't use that Chinese motor mount.

Castle 1515 2200--- 1.57" x 25.4 = 39.878mm

Lepard 4074--- 39.8mm

.07mm / 25.4 = .00275" difference, Nada, not enough to be a problem IMO.

The castle motor uses the fins to hold the orings. The leopard has no fins.

I don't have a logger, but I'm running a turnigy 180A marine and it was right around 115* after 3 min hard running, spinning a modded 642. Motor was at 110* and the batteries were a little bit hot at 121* I live in SWFLA and the water temps right now are around 90* so not to much thermal cooling available

Fluid

Battery temps of 120F are not at all too hot. The hotter the cells the more power they deliver, most folks recognize this. I only get worried when my cell temps are exceeding 140F. I try to start my cells at near 100F, safer on the cells and more power as well.

Sweet! I run the 4074 in my mm with x640 4s2p, 44mph temps on the caps 120f and the motor shaft 112F love this motor going to try to use 5s2p that should push me over 50!

The first videos of my Insane hydro had this motor running on 4s and an H6 prop modded with 3.7" of pitch at the cups trailing edge. This got me over 60 mph. Dont be afraid to put a prop on this motor.

Those motors are midrange quality and this is a good idea.
We could choose cheap FSD, Feigao, KEDA motors or high-end NEU, Tenshock and Lehner motors.
Now we can buy good 4 pol motors for a good price

Ran my Leopard 4074 today in my SV27 with swordfish 120, Oct 445 prop, and 4-2s 3600mah (4s2p) NeuEnergy Lipos. Temps were surprisingly low and this motor ran pretty well even when I ran it on 2-3s lipos (3s2p). ESC temped at 129 after running it hard for 4-5 min and motor temped at 98 (using OSE's water jacket for this motor). Temps seemed lower than when I ran a Neu 1515-1y and hydra 120 in the same boat with the same prop. Im not saying this motor is better than the Neu, but so far it seems to be a valid option and a worthy competetor to the others.

I ran mine in delta 33 knock off, went with x445 prop... man the boat flew! Did not have a GPS in it, but it was way better then with x64- I've tried before.
Temps are better (lower) then Castle-Neu. It does seems to be better compare to Castle-Neu considering the price and performance.

I hope the good news about this motor continues! I have sworn off Feigao motors due to failures and my budget won't accommodate very many NEU motors. The pricing is great for this Leopard motor!

Ran my 4074 with 5s2p 3200 venom lipos, x640 prop 2 deg timing, pwm 8k, strut .25" from bottom, about .5 degree angle up on prop end, 51 mph on radar gun (brother was manning that) temps were good around 120 -130 on caps, 115 on motor shaft. Ran it 3 times about 2 min intervals and the motor got to 150F on the last run, not a surprise seeing as i ran it wet! 4s seems to be the limit but with a little tweaking i think i could run 5s:rockon2:

Rich
07-31-2010, 02:19 PM
I ran the above setup a few more times and the hottest anything got was 125F, that includes the motor. It turns out the motor got to 150F because i had a clog in one of the lines. The amp readings are still spiking in the 180s but averaging in the 136 to 153 after the initial spike. I am really really impressed with this motor and for only $90 :sold: i would strongly recommend this motor to anyone on a budget for speed!
