Turnigy 500 Motors

I've saw a few of these on HC's website in various KV ratings. Anyone have experience good or bad with them? They are only $20, which makes me kinda leary, but at that price I'm willing to experiment.

Is anyone really running outrunners in areas where space isn't the concern?

Not sure about those motors but I do have a little experience with outrunners in a few of my boats. I have not run them enough to give a good report yet. The main difference I have noticed is the deceleration of the motors are pretty slow which gives the boat a little more "carry" after the throttle is released. This is due to having more rotational mass than most inrunner motors. No biggie but you need to think ahead when judging when you wanna stop.

I know the outrunners are popular in the nitro conversion because of the space concerns, but I just wonder if there are any advantages or disadvantages to running it in a cat or a mono where space isn't at a premium.

I love how they say you can run 6s on the 2200kv one....I don't think so. Keep a good fire extinguisher handy if you do.

You probably can run 6S on it, just not in a boating application. If those are indeed meant for like 500/600 size heli's then thats what most of those guys run for batteries. I've put 6S through my Castle 2200kv....but something tells me there is a bit of a quality difference between Castle and Turnigy :) lol

yes you can run 6s with 2200kv motors... look at the Erevo Brushless edition... Castle 2200kv and with 6s lipo it rips... far less constant amp load and more room to breath the fresh air in.....
