Well I have been out of this hobby for about 14 years. A few months ago I was cleaning up my basement and came acsoss my old Acadamy Sea Dagger. http://www.modelrectifier.com/pops/index.asp?ID=1239 I couldnt help but to go and get some new battery packs and get the thing going again. What a blast. So now I am hooked. Thanks to Battlepack I now have a Graupner Mini Sprint 400 coming in the mail.

As soon as it gets here I plan on putting it together and swaping out the stock 400 size motor for a brushless one. Anyone have any idea what motor, esc and battery set up I would want to run? I think I am gonna stay away from lipos for the time being. Thanks

I would use this motor (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLWY4&P=7)
and the stock SV27 esc (if there's room in there)

Thanks for your input. Now for more the newbie questions.

What do the numbers on the side of that motor mean? 28-45-2700kv, and how do I know if this motor is the same size as a brushed 400 series motor?

Is the stock sv27 esc water cooled?

If I want to make this boat water cooled what is Involved?

Each mfg has a different numbering scheme. Ammo uses this...
Diameter-length-RPM's per volt.
So that's 28mm Diameter - 45mm long - 2,700 RPM's per Volt.
input 7.2V you get 19,440 RPM's

28mm is the diameter if a 400 motor I believe.

Yes the stock SV27 ESC is water cooled.

Watercooling is easy, just decide where to pick up the water, the rest is simple.

Thanks for the help. I was just wondering why you would pick that motor? I understand that the size is right, but what makes that motor a better choice than lets say some thing made bv Novak or Traxxas or who ever?

Thanks again and sorry about the newbie questions.

My boat is still not here yet but I hope the mail man will have somthing for me soon!!

Because I have that motor. I put it in my Pro Boat Mini-V & the boat "Screamed" I also got the Ammo 36-50-2300 to replace my Stock Aquacraft Supervee 27 Motor. It made a considerable difference.
