yes thats about the same as the feiago 540XL
same size but a little lower KV then the feiago 13XL (1339kv for the feiago)

I have just :sold: my Cyberstorm to a guy in Trondheim.
I had 4S2P and NEU 1521 motor. Maybe a little overkill, but for sure really nice to drive :thumbup1:

Runs good bud! I'm liking that setup.

video200
07-10-2010, 03:55 AM
i liked it. like how it runs even better now with a neu 1521 1y 6s and 642 (wil be running a 645 as soon as i get a bigger esc)

but the 13xl on 645 gave me 5-6 minutes runtime on 4900 mah batteries

your boat is super! Can you put the list of components you have installed because I'm going to build one thanks

yes i have the same setup with the 645 prop..its awesome i am tempted by the x646 but it runs too good now and plenty fast enough in the low 60's..

orginal DF cyberstorm 33.
Speedmaster Stinger Strut.
160mm rudder.
150 flex.
nemesis blue 13XL
etti 150 race (would reccomend a ESC that have better trothle response then the etti)
Carbon Fiber Turn Fins.
Speedmaster 1.5" x 1.5" Adjustable Metal Trim Tabs
X645 curtesy of mr eggneg

thinks thats it.

a little update on my DF.
have a 1521 1y in it now and here is the result with a X642 (done by eggneg)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA4rtFby4kk
that 3 min run took 2044mah and temps was motor (hotest spot) 91.4f and the esc was 96f

the ETTI 150 race is worthless on the neu in the beginning with an all or nothing response til it had a few secconds of runtime.
sorry for the filming. but it is my 11 year old kid whos dooing the filming :)

I'm glad you decided to go with the 1521/1y. You made the right choice. Notice the cooler temps all the way around. You now have a fast, reliable setup.

video200
07-11-2010, 01:03 PM
i did so after advise from you guys :)
temps on the esc is higher then on the 13XL but the motor is so cool im starting to worry if its going to freeze up during fall\winter.

im thinking about changing the esc to a turnigy 180 but i am unshure how it wil deal with the 6s and max amp on every run

tth
07-11-2010, 01:33 PM
One reason for the high ESC temp is the On/Off throttle. If you go wide open for the full duration, its much easier on the ESC.

You will like the 180. They work great!

video200
07-11-2010, 01:36 PM
yes i know and the 1521 pulls alot more amps. but it is still well within what i am comfortable with.
the only thing i dont like compared to the 13XL is how the etti behaves. as you can se in the beginning of the video the trothle is all or nothing in the begining. when i was using the 13xl it was smooth all the way but now it is on\offish til i run it for a few secconds.

video200

You will like the 180. They work great!

but wil they last on 6s ? it is on the max of what it is made for.

forescott
07-11-2010, 01:49 PM
Yes it will. A lot of guys here on the forum use em. I would use an external bec on 6s though to be safe.

guess i just been scared from the hydra`s for to long. wil have to order one next month and se :)

I have never been a big fan of the etti's. They seem to have more issues than most other esc's.

video200
07-11-2010, 01:54 PM
the etti been good to me. but with the neu it feels sluggish til i got the boat on plane then it starts to feel good again.
if you listen to the first 30-40 secconds on the vid its almost as if its stuttering when its going along. this stops after a wile. but it never happend on the 13xl motor. but then again the nemesis blue is far as demanding as the neu.
but i am loving the neu. i cant se my self going back to feiago after this Ü

Set timing to 7 degrees advance and put to low start power. This is what you should use for your setup. The wierd throttle response in the beginning is the auto detect of the ESC. It is a default setting on the Etti. I use Etti's and Hydra's. I am equally drawn to both. Once you get your settings (esc) and setup (boat) right, all will be smooth. Believe me I have had my fair share of problems (mainly my error) with most brands of ESC's. For me I will stick to Hydra's and Etti's. Customer support alone is worth the extra $$$.

for me hydra is a big no no. blew up one that was well within its limits. so now i have a hydra 240 LV that i just dont dare to run on 6s.

i like the etti besides the trothle response. at the moment it is running with the stock settings but wil se if i cant find the old user manual and set it to soft start :)

video200
07-11-2010, 03:56 PM
are there some kind of program card with those etties ?

tth
07-11-2010, 05:19 PM
No program card......good ol' transmitter beep type. Instructions are on the Etti website.

its already in good use. but only on 4s. i have a hate\love relationship with that one.
it have to be the best controller in the world. if i could ony dare to use it on 6s in my DF along with the 1521

I run the 240LV on 6S without any problems.

Just before the weekend I was talking with Dee @ ETTI and he said they had a programming software project going on.

video200
07-12-2010, 03:06 AM
my first hudra 240 blew up after about 30 sec (5 of them on the water) on 5S so i got a little "scared" to run it on anything close to its limits.

Sounds very strange. I have 3 240 LV and they all perform good on 6S. Running 1.03 software.
Also ran 6S on my 120 LV (which is a the bottom of lake now) and had no problem at all. Send an e-mail to castle and ask what to do.

Damn I guess I have to build another Cyberstorm, nice boats. Should not have sold my boat away...
Have more projects going on, but unfortunately enough time to finnish projects as soon as I wished I could....

video200
07-12-2010, 03:18 AM
in on my 3 240 LV now.
1 was replaced for free 1 i had to pay $150 to get replaced and the last one is running on 4s as they way WAY to exspencive to replace every 30 sec or so.

spoke to castle a few times and they have great customer service. but still for that price i can get others that preform just as well :)

so what projects you have running jørn ? i know you been buying motors on here :D

Joern Markset

Well, you know, when you`re so curious as I am it is always lot of projects going on.
Just built a DF29 that I failed to make self rigthing. You should have seen me when I launched the boat up side down and waited for it to flip over.... Well, I was standing there with my beard in the mailbox cause the boat float like a piece of wood... So I`m gonna sell that boat away. It performs like my other 29", but looks kind of funny with a chamber which is good for nothing....
It is a good setup for someone that would like a fast and stable boat for a small amount of money.
I`m in weekly contact with the DF manufacturer, and there might come one or two hulls that is self righting. Also waiting for the new 24" DF hydro to arrive, looking forward to see how it is.
Other than that I have a DF12 on 2S going on for the youngsters.
DF31 with 10XL - DF67 with 2215 - DF33 with the 2240 lehner I just bought from a guy here on OSE.
And I want to finish the DF90 with a 2230 motor.
The F1 boat is also on the bench, this one will take some time to finish
I just can`t get enough of the electrics, it is so fun

your serius ? and here i though you became one of the most wining EVER just by beeing lucky ;)

cant you put somw wights into that flood chamber of yours so it works ?

Joern Markset
07-12-2010, 04:08 AM
For sure it doesn`t hurt to be lucky once in a while

I could have tried some weights, but I needed to push a lot on the side of the boat to actually get it flip over, so I guess there would be a lot of wight needed.
Easier to build a new one since my basement is full of boats:olleyes:

Regarding the 240LV, have you tried to put on cap banks?

I`m very satisfied with the ETTI esc and the service ETTI provide.
The new high volt/high amp logger came in just before the weekend, looking forward to give it a shot. It is a cheap way to do logging if you don`t want to buy a full Eagletree system.

already been looking at a new eagle tree (last one diddent like to be wet)
make a larger chamber hehe.
i havent added caps to the hydra atleast not yet but maybe some day.

i think we might need a "TOPIC FOR PRATESYKE MODELLBÅTFØRERE !" in here as well ;)

TTH.
did as you sugested with the timing and soft start. the soft start diddent do much but the timing cooled the ESC down ALOT. thank you for your help. it is much apritiated :D
