I am running my EKOS now with Dynamite 4200 mAh, 3S, 25C Lipos. These are good and also small size for Lipos ( 135mm x 34mm x 24mm) ...BUT PRICY! About $100 bucks each, mang.

Looking for good long run time and more Lipos to bring to the pond.

I see that someone has been able to fit affordable Turnigy 5000mAh, 3S, 20Cs into their EKOS but that it is a tight fit. Does the 20C affect performance then?

Also, does anyone know of an alternative to Turnigy, ones that are smaller in size and that will fit into our EKOS boats (and more affordable than Dynamite) ?

We all want the longest run time possible with 3Ss, but we need them to fit into the standard boat and be able to close the hatch!

Thanks guys! :buttrock:

Blue lipo from Hobbypartz are a little smaller than Turnigy.http://www.hobbypartz.com/30c3s.html I have had good luck with them and they ship from California and not China so you will have them fast and the shipping is around $5.If you get 25c or better you will have less chance of overheated battery problems.

Thanks for that tip Igoreski. But is the 50mm not too wide for the battery compartment of the EKOS? It seems that with the straps these would not fit in my EKOS...

Yes they fit tight, 150X50X35mm are the max you can fit without cutting the tray. You can cut or pull the middle divider out to make more room if you need to.I like it because even after a bad wipeout the battery is still in the same spot. The sizes listed on most hobby sites are a little bit bigger than the actual battery.

Thanks very much! Then I will can order 3S 5000's 30C and they should fit... http://www.hobbypartz.com/83p-5000mah-3s1p-111-30c.html

Ever tried your EKOS with 4Ss?

Turnigy just got 5800s 3s 25C in stock! So I could have these pretty quick, but now I am worried about what you say with keeping to 30C...I have 4200 3S 25C right now but they do get kinda hot after 6 laps of our race course at the pond...so if the boat runs longer with more time in water I guess they could get even hotter. Decisions, decisions...

Probably not a wise idea, however if you do, I would suggest using the 32mm props. JMHO I run mine on 4s, but have 540 motors, wire drives and Boca Bearings. The stock bearings didn't last long.

I have a few of these on the way for various uses: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9962

I've found the Zippy flightmax series to be very reliable.

The width on the battery tray is 50mm, so 50mm and under will fit. Just about any 3s pack will work. The height is about 36mm.

Happy Boating!
