Very impressive Randy.
If you get a spare 5 minutes could you give us the overall length?
I have it's big brother (38 inch) as you know. I was very impressed with it's speed on 3's and 4s has taken me to speeds I have never seen before on my gps. I would be very interested in one of these little guys. Are they going to be available to the general public? If so could you PM me an estimate of how much the cost would be?

A picture to remind you of your incredible work...

My first boat of the 2S version is 25 inches with the extensions it will be in the 28 to 30 range although Our 2S boats are not allowed to be over 27 inches. It is a little late so I will not try to talk much to night. I truly love to see that boat, thanks

At first glance I thought there is no way this rigger is under 27", but the buck stops when the ruler comes out.

Hi Tyler

Ya it will be a little one. But you have seen our little 21 inch rigger do 86MPH

I have had this project on the shelf for a while, I have a lot more parts in the tub ready to install. I am not going to a SAW until I am ready. Hope I am not 70 years old when that happens. Suck getting old.:cursing:

Yeah, It was a pretty sight to see going through the traps. More impressive was the same rigger running 70 on 1 cell. Do you have a power system picked out?

I am waiting on a video of the M1, but Wilmer just lost his mother and I am giving him a lot of space. Possibly Tony has a video.

I designed it with a 1515 in mind but for N2 it may need a more special motor.

Very nice Randy. Is there a way to incorporate a removable turn fin on the right sponson? Maybe just using a bracklet of some sort to attach the turn fin when needed?

It should be good for the slower runs, I had one a little smaller just like it that made it to 75MPH this one should be good to 45 or 50. I will build a bracket to stiffen it and drop in the box. It is packed now and I need to get my truck hear. I rode my bicycle today to work so no mailing.

Hey Randy, we sometimes disagree on nonsense but I just remembered something you told me once a long time ago. It was around the time that you were getting beat up over the "Spirit of the Eagle" SAW record. You told me on the phone that if the rules made imagination and artistry illegal that you would just quit. I'm paraphrasing but I never forgot it. It influenced me too. If I have the opportunity to build something that's more than just a boat I'm taking it. Anything worth doing is worth doing with some flash and flare.

Some of your designs are proof that the truly gifted artists will express themselves no matter what.

Now, that boat should be called the American Bad A$$ with dollar signs and everything.

Randy,
About your hull build process.
Most hull manufacturing uses a negative, so they can have a gell coat, smooth outer hull.
Yo u use a You use a vacuum bag CF cloth over a positive, at least on the riggers. Why? What is the advantage of this approach?

When you see a positive it is a Plug to make the mold, to make the boat parts. I could use gel coat and have a lot of bling that is brittle and heavy. I prefer to use Epoxy I can use pigment in it too to make gel coat. but that just hides imperfections. I do vacuum bag all my parts in negatives.

Randy, you can use epoxy vacuum infusion and have a grade A bling CF finish, out of the mold. No gell coat!!

Oh ya I know about that, once again it not the best for the boat. It makes a lot of resin in the boat and not fiber. It might as well be gel coat. I never put bling before function.

Really? My friend does this process, and generates a composite that is about 50% by weight..
Also, what about mixing up a small amount of epoxy and painting it on the surface of the mold ahead of time, like a gell coat. Prevent pattern bleed through, and end up with a class A epoxy finish. It has worked well when I was vacuum bag angle stock.

RandyatBBY

I could be wrong. but something has to fill the voids and that would be resin. I spray resin on the molds to eliminate pin holes and mix a slurry to fill the rest with Milled CF.

I am getting real close to getting the last materials to do the infusion. I have been working to get the molds up to a good enough quality to do infusion.

I am not going to L.A. SAW's until the Rolling Ghetto is in tip top shape and I have the $$$ to make it.

I do not always have the internet working at the shop to post pictures and I am forgetful in my old age. The new molds are just that "new molds". Not really good enough to show.

Randy,
ON release agents. Frekote works wonders. I have never seen an epoxy actually bead on a surface.
The parts coma out of a mold by just shaking the mold
I use Frekote FMS as a raw mold conditioner, and Frekote 770-NC as the release agent. Clear, thin liquids both of them. Easy to apply.

Also, on vacuum infusion, ever head of MTI Hoze? It is a vacuum hose that has a membrane on the outside that does not let resin through. No dry spots or pin holes.

A tip: Once you have you epoxy mixed, put it in a vacuum chamber to degass it. no bubbles, which lead to pin holes.

wait im confused Randy, as ive viewed your website several times and never seen these beauties in the rigger section, or anywhere for that matter.

Are these hulls you produce for inclusive individuals/friends or family or something of that nature? or do you indeed sell these?

ive never been very fond or considerate of building a rigger, but man these look amazing! especially the 2nd picture in 2nd post of the thread, I absolutely love that hull.
