so i got the motors out but now the coupler screws that bolt to the shaft won't come out..thinkin of tossing these motors and just buying a set of feigos and be done with this pain in my a$$!!!! any body got tips for temoving half stripped screws..wish hex screws didn't suck..or at least aluminum ones

Stock couplers are a big problem. I would take a dremel tool with a thin cutoff wheel and cut a groove right down the center of the set screws and use a small flat blade screwdriver to break them loose. you will more than likely destroy the couplers while removing them. Then just throw them away.

forescott is right,
i had same issue..cut them and maybe add some heat with a micro torch
do it when its hot to keep what little loc-tight mite be in there loose
thats just a suggestion.....it worked for me

Lol has anyone even tried the boat on 8s lol I've done 4s wondering if I should go into 5s territory lol on stock set up with a few hop up parts. Of course I want to go with 120 esc and 10xl's no doubt. Just want to see what stock can do on 5s. Was surprised at 4s no issues.

Dang, bet it stayed cool too!

Atually I see hotter temps with the 3s than 4s for some reason. That's with cool down passes. I never WOT when I run. 2 hard passes then one cool down pass. Water flows better 1/2 throttle rather than sputter out at wot. I might try wot with 5s when I have all my parts on hand.

Actually, I was referring to the original post about running ON 8s... :rockon2::laugh:

Ohh lol gona need bigger cooling hoses like that of gas boats. Either way 4s seems to work just fine.
maybe people are messing with the timing when they blow there motors. Manuel clearly states not to select no protection when running on lipo power source. I live mine at auto I think that's 11.25 degree of timing not sure. Gottah get a gps to test out speed. 4s 3200mah lipos and 3s 4000mah lipos. Run fine

What is KOS stock setup? Lenght is 32", right?

4S 5000mAh for each motor is a good hot setup, with nice 2200kV BL motors.
What' s wrong with this hull?

Nothings wrong with this hull it was compared to another similar design and the kos glassing was way thicker. Stock set up is 2850kv motors which really are 2770 I think, rcboatracing couplers, and flex shafts and prop nuts, venom 32mm pro machine props, lol and locktite blue. 5000mah is alot of power for long time that's it. I like my 3200mah great for top end speed runs. Esc are 60amp running 120amp burst. I doubt the motors even pull that at top speed or burst on 3s or 4s lipos even though my 4s are 160amp burst. Gottah take some mph but off my head I know I'm doing over 40mph for sure. Waiting for motors or esc to stop working then it's 120amp esc on stock motors on 5s then when those go fiego 9xl or 10xl which ever will take 5s safely. Or vice versa. Waiting on rcboatracing to get everything for the motors then it's game time. I believe this hull is a 60+mph hull

Stock setup is twin 380-sized (2850kv) motors with turnigy/seaking 60-amp esc's and 32 and 36mm 3-blade plastic props.

The hull is great, but the motors have been known to fry.

Regarding getting grub or set screws out of couplings. I have found if you heat up the body of the connector/coupling with the tip of your soldering iron, you can usually get them out. Assumes you haven't messed up the screw hex.

If that doesn't work, a dremel with diamond cutting wheel will make a nice cut into the coupling which will permit it to be removed.

Most set screws have had some loctite applied to them and the heat softens it up so it will release it's death grip on those tiny little buggers. If you can get SS set screws, you will have a better chance of success in future attempts to R&R the couplings.

its gonna sink with all that weight. but your packs will stay cool submerged in the water like that. might add drag the way they are positioned try sequencel stacking them to act like steps on the hull.
