Does anybody know what the difference between 2 and 3 blade props if they both were the same pitch, will the 3 blade cause more cavitation.

Not necessarily, but if they are the same diameter, the 3 blade will heat things up a bit more.

Hi,
We first used an X440/3 on my son's fastech, but had some cavitation until it got up on plane, once on plane it ran great. But I like the X642 prop better for this boat-- no cavitation, runs fast, and motor/ESC are only just warm.

why would it cause more cavitation.
the big racing boats like miss gieco use 5 or 6 blade props

I'm not sure, but the difference between the 440/3 and the 642 is huge...
The 440 would be running at higher RPMs than the 642, so we can't really tell the diff between the 2 and 3 blade prop config here... (I can just say the X642 runs better than the X440/3).

What would be interesting to test is the difference between an X440/3 and an X440/2... unfortunately, I don't have a two bladed 440...

Does anybody have those two props to run an experiment? If somebody wants to sell me a X440 2 blade prop, I'd run the experiment and report back (I need that prop for a different boat, anyway). Or loan it to me and I'd send it back...

Ive got both a 2 and 3 blade 440. I will run them on my SV tomorow and report back.
