Building a custom 58'' weedy and I'm trying to order parts. Does anyone know what the drive shaft diameter is? I do know it is round and threaded. The motor is from a 17'' cut weed whacker. Any help would be great!
Also looking for used hardware for the 58''. Thanks again!

Thanks. Anything needed to attach it to the flywheel? A collet or something? Thanks for your help! This is my first build...

Nope, it floats as it is a square drive at the motor/ clutch end. So your cable has to have a sq end. Are you sure your cable hasnt been cut? Ive never seen one thats not square on a weed eater, or is the weedeater missing the clutch which would have it?
Heres a square cable http://www.whhonline.com/product_p/stockcables.htm
If it is in fact threaded at the fly wheel as a Zenoah for instance, use something like this http://www.whhonline.com/product_p/ez117.htm or this http://bonzisports.com/images/parts/collet.jpg
OSE has standard cables 1/4" you can cut to length.
What kind of hardware are you looking for, ie stinger, strut?

Thanks. Yes, I am positive that the shaft would have to thread in to the flywheel, as I originally had a propeller bolted on to the flywheel. (Airboat)
I'm looking for anything really that will work for my 58'' weedy. Stinger, props, flex cable, rudder w/ pickup, ect...

Just to let you know. Even a promod homelite with a tuned pipe will have a hard time pushing 58" boat. It will do it, but it will also be very slow!!! Trust me, I've been there, on a lighter and shorter boat!

Thanks everyone. I agree with the past two posts- not looking for a speed breaker, just something to put around in while I'm camping. It has been more for the fun of the build. Gotta love wood working.
If I find I like it, I'll upgrade hulls and buy a bigger engine. I'll PM everyone tonight with questions about your gear.
