i was told that you cant charge two packs at once with an adaptor, it has to be one pack. i dont get it.. i have two 7 cell packs for my proboat... why cant i use an adaptor? wouldnt that be the same as if it were 1, 14 cell pack? should i just connect the two packs? someone please explain this to me because now i have two chargers. thanks , Dana

I never had a problem charging 2 packs at the same time.

did you use an adaptor? only reason i want to know is because i almost bought a charger that could do 15 nimh plus lipo, as in the future i would like to get into lipo's when these nimh backs can take no more. instead i ended up with another charger that only does nicd nimh cells. its one of those mrc 820 chargers plus my old vision peak 2 to do both my packs at once. is the guy who sold me this thing full of *!***!***!***!**?

I used to charge 2x 9cell nimh packs at once never had a problem! made a parallel adapter worked great.

Don't know who told you that info or what charger you are using but I have done it for a long time and never a problem. I think they don't know what they are talking about but we need to know what charger you are using.

As long as the charger can be set, or recognizes automaticaly, the number of cells your charging your fine. The charger doesn't know if they are all in one pack of in 8 different packs. It just sees voltage or cell count. If its a quality charger you should have no issues charging multiple packs.

well i havent bought the charger yet, i wanted to get something that can do up to 14 nimh cells, because thats what im running now, but does lipo too because in the future i want lipo's. any suggestions on a chrger in the $150.00 range? right now i have a vision peak 2 to do one pack, and gus at the rc shop sold me an mrc 820 to do the other pack... i suspect this guy is an idiot. he says if one of my poacks if half full and the other is completely dead the charger wont realize it lol, i was like WTF?!?! when would 1 pack be totally dead and the other half full lol i run em in series lol how could that ever happen? lol i dunno am i wrong?

Are you running the Sub c's in pairs? Then you will be just fine but he is right it is not good to charge one pack that is real run down and the other that is say 3/4 full.

i run them both in series.... the way the boat is set up to run factory

dana
05-02-2010, 10:01 PM
meaning the boat is getting 16.8 volts from the two packs... in parallel the mah would be doubled but only running 8.4 v. i am correct on the series parallel thing?

JimClark
05-02-2010, 10:01 PM
you will be just fine with charging them in series
Yup on the series vs Parallel

dana
05-02-2010, 10:03 PM
right. thats what i thot. maybe he was confused about what i was saying... but either way it would be awefully hard to get one 3/4 drained and one totally drained no matter weather it was run series or parallel correct?

JimClark

he is thinking you are running them as single packs

Remember you need to charge at your mah rate If your battery is at 4000 mah then charge at 4 amps or like if it's at 5000mah then charge at 5 amps!

I struggled with what charger to buy for a long time-- I finally bit the bullet and purchased a hyperion duo 3 charger and a 350W AC power supply... it was a lot of $$$ but I love the darn thing-- charges anything I can imagine, and very fast. Between my son I and we have 2 boats plus a rescue, and we have a LOT of packs to charge... the Duo is 2 chargers in one, and the time I save is worth the extra money big time...

yep, its sorta like my vision peak 2. adjustable 1,2 and 4 amp setting. my nimhs are 4200 mah so ill charge at 4.2 amps. although im starting to get the need for lipo's so that will be next. ch33rs!

JimClark

I have a pair of these
http://rclipos.com/HP-EOS0606i-DC.htm
Might actually be willing to sell them if I can find a deal on a used Hyperion duo

dana

Why do you want to sell them?

JimClark
05-04-2010, 01:16 PM
I would only sell them if I can find a deal on Hyperion Duo which has more power and two chargers in one.

Why do you want to sell them?
