well, i would think you can upgrade to a feigao 540 BL motor (they have the same can diameter as the brushed 540, right??) but youll also have to upgrade the esc.....i would get a 540L that will get good rpms on 6 cells....

There is a ebay listing that has a couple of feigao motors and an esc.

is this hull big enough for 12 cells? of so, the SV27 motor/esc combo would be a good choice....

Problem with the this boat is that the battery is stored at or near the top of the deck. Which makes it a very poor handling hull when modified. I would go with a good 19 turn double motor. Its not going to be a rocket, but faster than stock.

I am using a 7-cell 4200 maH NimH in my SW26EPRS and it is a lot faster than stock, but as Steven says, it spins out and cavitates very easily now.

yeah i know im getting some turn fins for mine . also got a octurra prop out that boosts performance a little #Y354 i think , its a purple plastic one!, but anyway the manual said you can run 7 cell packs in the esc could handle it , hows yours holding up ? are you still using the stock motor? like the paint job on the boat is that your sw26?

J.... yeah that's my SW 26 w/o the guys and the wing. Performance is great with the 7-cells. Yeah, still the stock motor.....tried a revenge of the monster pro.....NOT GOOD....almost melted evrything! I also am using a "purple" prop.....I realized the parts off the Blackjack 26 interchange with the 26ep rs....that's where I got my prop.....J, remember to set the esc on turn-on by going full throttle forward then full reverse.....makes a huge difference. For a flimsy boat, she's held up good to being run over 5 times so far....seems the strudder turns too quick for some.....another low battery.....gotta go!

J....gotta mention one more thing....move the antenna from the starboard side to high in the middle.....those right hand turns will be much better after that.

yeah good idea about the antenna and the riders ! just ordered a graupner 600 race 8.4 motor to throw in it with a silicon water jacket and shoty diodes . also have some turn fins coming to help with the sliding turns [hope i dont lose any speed over it] . do you think the stock esc can handle it? or should i upgrade ? thanks for your time!!

J......says 12v and 40 amps......it's a tough call.....I run 7-cell 8.4v packs WOT one after another with just enough break in between to switch the packs and the motor and ESC have been fine (warm to the touch)....on the other hand it's been 45 degrees up here.

Did a few mods to a SW26 that I bought from e-bay with nothing in it. I gutted it, including the pain in the but stuffing tube (got lucky not to damage the hull in the process). Then relocated the motor foreward, to match up with a new 1/8 driveshaft connected with Dumas 1/8 universals and an original Associated rc-10 dogbone (fits great). The motor is a 21 turn 550, with a Tekin 4-12c esc, 10 cells about where the original pack went, and an Octura plastic x431 prop. It accelerates hard, and turns on a dime. One of my favorite projects. Good luck with yours!

J.....how's that 600 race 8.4v mod going? I might be needing a motor soon and want to hear how you made out. Thanks
