Hi all

Can anybody help me with this Carbon Rigger:help:

I am running a 1521 1y on 6S 1P (Hyperion G3's 5500)
Prop 646 Etti 200ESC

Speeds are only at 104km/h:ThumbsDown01:

Also ran this with a H5 with only marginal differance........

Boat weight is 3.8kg's with batts and motor - length - 1mtr

Can I prop up ????
Would going to a 1527 help?

Would think I should be running around the 115 mark with this setup:help:

If you were running a D winding I would say yes. Since it appears SAW runs are your goal someone who has ran that motor in a rigger should chime in. Maybe Brian? I have something similar is size and weight but I am using a 1521/1D and I have prop'd up to a 2150. Respectable speeds but terrible heat. I settled on a V947. The H series seem to be ideal for what you are doing. BTW very nice boat!

That is the motor I went 88MPH on 8S in the 34inch War Eagle at the last SAW's. Have you looked at the ride pads? blue printing is good for 6 to 8 MPH.

That's a mighty small motor for 8S for a new SAW racer. You should be able to get well into the 70s with that motor on 6S IF the rigger is properly designed and set up. Some riggers will never go real fast due to poor design or setup.

You do not have enough prop pitch, the H5 has about the same pitch as the x646 does, no surprise it's no faster. You probably do not have enough timing advance either. Both will doom you to slow speeds even with a great rigger design.

Set the timing for 15 degrees and try a 2140 or 2045 prop. These have a lot of lift so move the CG back and run the strut dead flat. Confine yourself to two passes, then bring it in to check temps. What size of pond are you running on? Is it long enough to go real fast before you shut down or turn?

I ran the 1527/1D in my 6S cat over 80 thought the traps in LA....

Fluid

Thanks for your input

Runs have been over a long distance its a river say 250mtrs at least...

Will look at the props you suggested - are the Octura? I have a X455 not sure if this will help?

Re: Timming advance Its a[B] Etti 200HV [/B - ]so think I can advance the timing to 15deg....

thanks

First of all if top speed is what your looking for here X props are not going to get you there. I agree with Fluid here you need lifting props as their blade shape and pitch profiles are more suited to hydros, especially riggers.

The other thing I noticed in the pictures is that the angle of attack on the sponsons
looks extremely low. Is the AOA adjustable? If it is try giving them a little more angle.
Make small adjustments at a time. Water drag is the absolute enemy of speed.
If you can get the boat running more loose you will see a dramatic difference in speed. Of course there is a trade off here, too much angle and the boat will blow off.
It's all about finding a balance.
