I was not satisfied with the offset rudder system so I changed it over to a steerable outdrive. The control and handling is much, much better. This is my sport boat so I use it to tool around between 35 and 40 mph with Zippy Flightmax 2S LiPo's. This is a very fun boat to drive - quick, stable and forgiving. I altered the turn fins and trim pads based on the information from this site and it does help incredibly! The prop I am using with this setup is an Octura X642 B/S. The radio is a Tactic 2.4GHz but everything else is stock.

Looks like you are using a regular flex cable and no pesky U-joint is that correct?

Glad you made this work.

Note, I personally really like the fixed drive/offset rudder config on the fastech. It does require matching speed and rudder input to turn the best, and I like the little bit of challenge.

You are correct - I am using a .150 dia. flex cable instead of the inferior stock universal joint. I forgot to mention that I had to use a HiTec high torque servo in order for the set up to work best.

That's not a bad idea! I had thought of something like that but decided to ditch the steerable system all together on my BlackJack. Those u-joints do suck! Nice job!

Any videos of it in action?
