You can get a acer new with rave reviews for $369 brand new at best buy without having to deal with any mail in rebates... It's got 3gb ram too... I just bought a thousand dollar laptop that my girl always has in possesion and am contemplating one myself for use with my castle link... He he he... Among other things of course..

these are a great buy... I have a good buddy who's an IT guy for the hospitals in my area and he told me about these...He said they are better then my 6 month old $1000 dollar model... Good luck!

Thats a nice deal on the Acer. I had a pc with a AMD chip and it worked fine.

Yeh it is and it's a 3 gb ram instead of most of the other sub $500 laptops 2gb.... And yes AMD athalons are a very good processor for the money.... Read the reviews on the site too.... My buddy who referred me to them has built me custom gaming computers in the past.... He knows his stuff... I think I'm gonna go get one this weekend if Mike Martin stops taking all my money...:)

I got an msi wind netbook... Great ratings... But they are so small... Hard to use keyboard, no CDROM or DVD drive... Etc.. I honestly use my iPhone more for the Internet... Which is in fact what I am using right now! The netbooks seem to be just sized wrong for me and don't have the features I am looking for... I also like to run movies on mine when I'm camping, etc., And your right Jim the 2.5 hrs is the only downfall... But I find most laptops don't have a good battery life even if they are stated to have longer life.... Plus I have a $40 inverter that literally has a home in my company car.... Great for my lunchtime parkflyers And my accucell 6 charger:):) plus if you buy a USED laptop the battery is def probably not holding the charge it once was.....

Sony VAIO here from Wal Mart. $598.00 4GB ram, with Intel Pentium Processor, Windows 7 Home Premium. Best 600.00 I ever spent on a Laptop.

I don't know why, but I can't find it on the WM site now. But here (http://www.target.com/Sony-VAIO-NW-15-5-Notebook/dp/B002YT89GC) it is @ Target.

2.5 isnt bad. plus prob there are settings to extend batt life, like dim screen and slowed pcu speeds and less cooling. The dells are nice but small screens, that Acer got a 15 1/2 screen plus all the extra goodies. If i were in the market i might go for it... its a better link then the one I posted.. heheh G/L
