Hint of the Day: It is Sunday morning and the sun is out. I am getting my boats ready to go to Spreckels Lake In Golden Gate Park. All are welcome to bring out there FE boats and going in or just come and visit. I will be at the pond at 1:00PM or so. I will be on the north side of the pond.

Ya that is true but I love racing and getting together with boaters.

I think I should have called this thread state of mind at BBY. This morning I was working on molds the Mini Zephyer. I limited my self from 10:00AM to 1:00PM to get the work done on the bottom mold it is a rough out and for testing the idea. I have more plans for the boat but that will come later. Right now I just need to get one built to test so it is gona be a little rough, just like my state of mind.:just-kidding:

Now I need to get going on orders.

I got a lot done on some hardware sets and pulled Danny's Carbon fiber Zephyer out of the mold, it is one of the best ones yet!:bounce: It is going to be a real fast one real light too! Sneak peek....... I put in Kevlar on the deck thanks for being so cool. free be. Have you got the hard drive yet?

It is the War Zone Jr. I have set up to run. I took it ot the pond on Sunday and there was about 4 kids asking questions and I got distracted and pluged the reciever pack in backwards on the Nomadio and it burnt up the ESC and the Receiver, no fail safe protection.

The Mini Zephyer will be pulled from the mold on Friday. I do not have a cowl yet. This everyones chance to for in input for design on the cowl

I vote Turbine style like the Pro boat hydros, bur the turbine is hollow to allow air flow through it rather than a wind catch. but sealed from the hatch.

RandyatBBY

I could do a two part cowl that the scoop and turbine exhaust shroud is added later. I like that, the center of the pickle is sloped forward in a light vee.

___________

:iagree: All too often I have difficulty with blowing over a turbine style hull due to the wind catch. Plus with a hollow pass-through turbine, it will feature a more realistic presentation.
___________

Sorry to hear about the receiver and ESC, but we all get distracted sometimes. I ran 14.4+Volts into a 7s 5090kv motor when I wasn't paying attention. It ran great!!! ....for a while...
___________

For the mini Zephyer, are there any plans to make the front of the center section more aerodynamic? Or are you concerned about too much lift/downforce/ground effect?

It is about secret as I get. at the SAW's I will be running the all new boat.

It will have the blow threw scoop sealed from the inside of the boat. It could be run with out the scoop too.
On the front and bottom of the boat it is designed to have little aerodynamic lift and ground affect with the front being a defuser style.

I am building a New Mold for the Z-27 for the deck and the hatch. Then the new hull needs to be made and he wants it to be perfect. No flaws at all that takes time for my best days.

Monday 3/14/10 was a normal day of nothing but people coming and going, phone calls and emails. no real work building boats done.

Tuesday I layed up a micro Scat Cat and built wing molds for the Z-27. I also preped (sandes seams) for the CF Lift Master SAW boat for

Today is going good so far Joined Norvell's hull and the next thing to do is join Paul F sponsons. and if all goes well start on the Nitro Z-27

I ended up building a hardware set for my friend Butch. he has been waiting on brackets for three weeks. Did not get to the sponsons nor the Z-27 molds on wed 3/16/10

I did not get to run it too much at Heather farms, the pond was small and there was way too many kid around. I had to rethink the CG with the sponsons foward, the cg is about three inches back from the rear of the sponson. I ran it twice once the cg was right. I had messed up the ESC and only had 1/4 throttle but it worked good other wise. We will get some video this weekend.

Back from the A.L. SAW's Manny thanks to Properchopper for his hospitality, What a bud. Thanks to Wilmer for all his help too. The Seismic Amigos put on a great event again!

While getting settled back in to work again I stumbled on a cool way to cap your connectors while setting them up for parallel or sceries setups. I added a little shrink warp to the neg side of the connectors and cut it with a Exacto knife.
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/757/connectorscovered.jpg (http://img248.imageshack.us/i/connectorscovered.jpg/)

I realized that it could be put back on if stretched a little with needle nose pliers. It is alos nice to have the extra shrink a little long to have a good handle on the cap.

This is a little nitro boat Of course it started as electric, but the construction of the new wings and cowl (to be done a little later) for the all time favorite Blue Blaster is interesting so I thought I would show it. I have been working on the boat for the last two days got a bit done. It will be done in a little while, like a few more days of work and a little mold work for the new Blue blaster cowl to match the wings. This is the mock up shot.

It was a 1971 Impala drop top with 130,000 miles we went up to Seattle Sunday on a plane. then rented a PT cruiser drove out and looked at the car. Had lunch to digest what we saw and made a offer that was excepted and drove to Portland Ore. that night. Then drove to Arebuckel CA. by 10;00pm We had charging trouble on the last leg of the trip. I thought it was a starter, two battery's later we made it home by 5;00PM on Tuesday night.

It takes a lot of time to build 10 or 15 different RTR boats at one time. Hear is 9 of the builds getting close to done.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/792/cocnutcrabpic2aspx.jpg (http://img535.imageshack.us/i/cocnutcrabpic2aspx.jpg/)
COCONUT CRABS
The coconut crab is a large edible land crab, related to the hermit crab, and are found in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans. They eat coconuts for a living! How would you like to be on an island and come across a crab that is more than 3 feet from head to tail and weighs up to 40 pounds, with a pair of large pincers strong enough to open coconuts! They can climb trees too, but they only eat coconuts that have already fallen to the ground. Coconut crab meat has been considered a local delicacy.

And you're afraid of spiders??!!!!

Bottom Mold for the Smoking Joe's 30 came out great. The top needs a little work today and I will mold it tomorrow. Cowl needs a lot of work to build the two molds for composite work.
I had to redo the top deck mold for the composite Scat Cat 33 It got damaged in the last lay up and also the cowl mold needs to be redone.

Whooo I just pulled a part for my 34 War Eagle "a new cowl" I lost it last November at the SAW's. This is why I get miffed when some one complains about waiting. I have waited up to 6 years for something I wanted to make for my self. I still have not replaced the Mini Zephyer I lost then either but soon.

What do you think about my cowl on Dannys boat?

Do you put a board under it to create the flat part?? Will the flat part go all the way around it (different than the purple and yellow boat)??

I think I drive Randy nuts with these flat tape questions....

RandyatBBY

I have to build a wall down the center for a parting line. There will be a board under the plug for the bottom parting line. This plug is deep for Vacume forming, not necessary for the boat part. Hear is a plug for the top of the Smokin Joes, it allso thick for forming not necessary for FG mold.

Thanks for posting Randy. It's a real treat to watch the boat as it progresses. I love that width taper all the way to the transom. I realize these are just plugs, but I still don't see how it will tape flat though (a few less marbles upstairs than others I guess).

I really like how the cowl tapes down on this boat..... (hijacked from a previous post). Very nice!!!!!!

Nice.....Clown Loaches are some of my favorites. They are so active and really are like clowns....beware tho, they will get pretty large and harass other tank mates. The largest clown I raised was 8" long and pretty big in girth. I used to breed Angelfish and Discus in a 175gal tank. It is amazing to watch the natural instinct in fish to protect their young up to a certian point. I learned very quick that if they breed in a small aquarium the parents will kill the young because they think that they are competition for food. Not so in a large tank.

I think I foresee another aquarium in the near future. For the girls of course!!!

Randy, I have dreamed for years of running the rubicon. Have an old 79 CJ-7 sitting up in Michigan right now, no time to rework it. Used to dream of redoing it into a crawling rig. Of course, now I am in Indiana and the 4x4 is a suburban with 4 kids in it. Still get to fill the 4x4 craze everynow and then with it. For example, it rained a while back and I made the climb up an on-ramp to the highway with it with hardly any wheel spin! Yep, that is about as good as it gets around here....... :o Beautiful pictures man, thanks for posting them!

You are welcome.

You will get to the 4X4 some day after your kids get older, they grow up fast. Keep it in a garage limit the rust.

I would say my biggest Loach is 3.5 inches and the smallest one is 2.5 inches. they are in a 55 gal tank I have a 125 gal tank to put them in if they get too big. but then they will not be in the family room, bummer.

No but your boat will be blue in about 20 minutes. Graphics are on it in yellow, white to come after it dries. I will be making the decal for the inside of the wing tonight. clear tomorrow.

I wish I had photo shop skills to show you how it will have the hatch cut in the deck. the cowl will not be a part of the hatch. Does that make more sence?

The deck looks great no hole to hang the boat I will have to do a little touch up work on the back of the deck, the hatch needs a little touch up work in the navy on the right side too.

Diego,

I'm Jealous!! That thing is gorgeous. Nice work as usual, Randy. How long is that hull?

Regarding the hatch question..... I think I get it now! The cowl is part of the hull? And the hatch is behind it?

The touch up went well today, I got the windshields on the boats and a bit more color on the SC27. No picture of the botton yet but it is a stepped hull. :thumbup1:
