For those who have the new ones, how are they? Besides the bigger cap what other improvements has been done? Is the turn fin area still weak? Is the hull finish better?

Thanks,
George

Tower hobbies, aquacraft and electrifly etc are all a division of Hobbico, with that being said maybe they are trying to get rid of the orignal or gen 2 ul-1s, maybe the are making room for the new brushless cats or maybe their doing it simply because they can. I'm just adding input to the conversation...:tongue_smilie:

Well they were out of stock for a very long time. I don't see why they would keep old stock. Maybe Grim could tell use what has been updated.

O yay I forgot about that, they were out of stock for awhile. For some reason that seemed so long ago. This is very interesting.... :popcorn2:

This topic has been beaten to death.......
I have a "second generation" UL-1,,,,,,improved turnfin area but not with the new cap on the controller (which by the way has been running flawlessly).

Beaten the snot out of it racing last season and is still solid as a rock.

Grim has stated in other posts that all stock after June / July (more or less) have the updated turn fin area.

Let the dead rest in peace.

I don't see what's being beating to death. Was simply asking about the third generation. Since they just came out last month. I know the second generation had the turn fin area beefed up but some say it's still weak. They were other issues with the hull like gel coat finish.

Well I got my UL-1 today:bounce: Hull itself feels solid, but the finish is pretty rough. You can see and feel the seams on the side and the gel coat is got runs. Mostly cosmetic stuff and because i'm in Hawaii i'll just live with it.:zip-up:

Got to run it for a shortwhile before the rain came back and she runs pretty well. Just right out of the box. All I did was change the deans to bullets and let her rip. Didn't get to play around with props and setup today, hopefully tommorow if weather permits.

Dude,

Take in consideration your buying a boat for $300 that is RTR... Some guys spend $300+ on just painting a boat. It's not going to perfect.:Peace_Sign:

Seriously guys Its not bothering me. Like I said it's only cosmetic. Just putting info out so when a new guys buys one they don't get discouraged. It's a killer deal at $240 for a ready to run boat.

for what it's worth i just got one, also for $240, and the finish looks nice, there are no runs on mine. probably luck of the draw.
