I just spoke to Jim at ABC Props. OSE will start to carry the entire ABC Prop product line. He is going to be renumbering all the props to denote blade area as well as the current diameter & pitch. This will be happening over the next 1-2 months. So until then, hang back and keep an eye on this page.

That is SPEKTACULAR news, Steven! Bully for you! These are great props and it'll be nice to have an easier way for people to purchase them....

Just an FYI for those of you that didn't know... The Grimracer line of props from Aquacraft are made by Jim at ABC.

Thanks Darin. He has a ton of options. Right now the numbering is overlapping. So there are several props with the same number. Once he has it figured out and new packaging done, I hope to have them.

Any chance there's going to be some small guys in there as well?

Right now its only 1.5" about 40mm. But he is very only to new ideas and very, very willing to work for electrics. From my past sales, I suggest to him that the meat of things are in the 38-50mm range. he does all the designing in cad and works from there. So larger designs are easily scaled down. I "think" right now his main effort is getting the numbering down and new prop chart.

That's great news. I've run a bunch of them. They can be very fast. I've even figured out a couple tweaks on the 4 digit series.

Are you going to have the H series props as well?

From what I'm told there will be no more "H" series. Not that its going, just being renumbered. I will try to carry all the props in electric sizes up to about 60mm or so.

I once talked to Jim over the phone about a prop for my Raptor Rigger. The man sounds very knowledgeable and told me alot about proper setup being MOST important (more important than custom cupping). He also told me how to harden his ABC props.

Clean Prop

Heat prop in oven on 4" x 4" copper plate @350 degrees for 20 minutes

Ramp up heat to 600 degrees for 40 minutes

Remove then air cool prop on seperate cool 4" x 4" copper plate with drive hub facing downward toward plate

You can purchase 1/8" Copper plate at Mcmaster.com. I purchased a 4" x 12" piece. I will cut this into three 4" x 4" pieces. Part number 8964K412
http://www.mcmaster.com/#

.........................

I copied and pasted this post from another forum. Jim @ ABC telling how to harden his props:

On Our Alloy
We DE-STRESS at 340F for 20Min (VERY IMPORTANT)
Then re ramp the temp to 594-608F at a rate of 28.8' F per min
We hold for 40 min to 1.5hrs depending on the prop
We then AIR COOL at room temp on a cool copper plate
Drawing the heat out of the drive side of the hub.
The prop must be CLEAN
Fingerprint oil can even cause hot-spots
The blades must not touch anything during heat up or cool down.
Final sharpening is done after.
Higher temps and longer time seam to have little effects.
Salt or Lead bath Heat-Treat is a + if one can control the temp within 0.5'F
The lower the BE content the Higher the Temp and Time
Our Alloy can and has Been Treated to a Rc45 in production apps.by other Co.
The Major proplem I see with breakage is do to
Thinning
Bar-Cutting
Back-Cutting
Prop-Racing
Other prop Cuts are far more effective
Proper Sizing and strut placement of Props seems to still be the major problem.
Changing from a Copper Alloy to a Stainless Alloy only cures one problem.
THE BOATER STILL DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO WORK THE PROP AND SET STRUT HEIGHT AND ANGLE.
All Manu. work very hard to let the average boater go faster.
Set up is still the major factor.

By the way
Jerry at Seaducer set the records with Our Alloy
NONE WERE HEAT-TREATED.
Proper Sizing and Set-up was the KEY.
THE MAN CAN GO FAST.

The Black Magic of Props
Go Fast

cleaver is like a octura v 937 looking prop. chopper has rounder ears. I will put pictures up when they are listed for sale. Its all pretty confusing. pictures help a ton.

You got me! All I do is sell them :confused1:
Once you see them, you will see that there are similar styles with other well known props you have used or seen out there.

Off the top of my head I have about 150 plus on order. He doesnt stock them all. Because of the new labels and renumbering, I'm sure Jim is up to his ears in my props.
