The drop in Zenoah replacement
Used w/ Castle HV 120 ESC
5.1 hp peak @ 17300
1.8 Nm torque @ 17300
18000+ rpm under load typically 4+hp (10S)
60-70mm props

It sounds like a good sport setup. But for racing I would run a higher rpm motor. I've tried running high torque/lower rpms motors and can't get the efficiency I would like for racing.

Yes well ive contemplated buying 2x Neu 2230 1Y's and running 12s a side..
That will give me the low 32k rpm.
Not sure if ill need that much motor, i could maybe get away with 2215's ( each side ) although im looking for most run time i can since ill be running an offshore class against other gas boats.
Its a CT03 hull, im goin to need something decent to get it moving as that size is starting to get a lil on the heavy side..

What motors does anyone reccomend with CT03? 67 inch.
I want a solid 5mins with reasonable speed.

It's an 8 pole 19 series. I just don't know what length or wind. My guess would be a 1920/1y.

I have a 1917/.5y that Steve wound for me. It's destined for a Q hydro.

The 19XX series has some serious potential, and a few limitations.

At 18000 RPM on 10S = about 485 KV
May be a little low on the KV

Why just a motor? Why not motorssssss?

Around 800KV would be better!

The "S" at the end of the motor # stands for Smooth can, instead of a Ribbed can.

Oh ok,
Well so theres no more confusion, ive put 2x and in bold[/

I guess i thought everyone would no what im talking about when ive mentioned a 67 inch hull. Do people actually bother running a single in a hull at nearly 70 inches?

Anyway, i hope its now not misleading.
Thanks for eveyones input so far:beerchug:

""If there ok, i wil run 2 of them in my CT03.""

First question CT03 ?
Mono?
CAT?
Hydro?
Rigger?
A pic would be nice.

Mines in transit at the moment..
But they look like this >
MHZ makethem, HPR do a very similar hull ( CT04 ).
There a scale of a Tencara hull, (MARITIMO and heaps of other race teams have used them)

is it just me or what :confused2:
see advice from people "kv is to low" and such then the question "whats a ct03"
how do people give advice on whats what when they dont even know what the boat is.
did anyone read the direct zenoah replacment in the first post

Ryan, I am building a CT03 at the present moment. It will be powered by 2 of these motors(1917 1y).Running 12s a side at 485kv. I am hoping for appox 50mph and 4 minute running time. We will be back at the Brisbane club this weekend if you are interested. Hope to see you than.

Yes I read the direct zenoah replacment

Zenoah motor is about 18,000 RPM
The big advantage to FE is the RPM that we can run and the performance (FASTER) Hence the comment on LOW KV

Maybe I should have asked, Why change it to FE just to keep the same performance??

What is a CT03?
I knew it was a big hull.
At first I though it was a MONO - single motor
Then came the SSSSS 's comments.
Then He changed His first post to specify the two motor part, two ESC's, two sets of batteries.

That is when I asked him to specify the type of hull, which should of had in the first post also.

I'm pretty sure you meant 18,000 RPM...

Stock Zens are around 13,000 or so, I think... Tuned versions with mods then get up into the upper teens... Not sure if they go beyond that....

Brod

Our gassers stock motors spin about 13-14000rpm pulling a 70-72mm prop.
Our modded motors spin about 17-20000rpm spinning a similar prop.
i reckon that Neu motor would be a good drop in replacement for either, possibly somewhere in the middle range of performance:thumbup1:

possibly somewhere in the middle range of performance:thumbup1:

I'm thinking that, all else being equal (RPMS, weight, etc), that the FE motor would have the advantage of torque throughout the power curve, where-as the Gas motor would have to "get on the pipe" to make power... The FE boat would pull HARD through the turns and out of them...

Might be an interested matchup... :cool2:

To get the run time that you are looking for.
You will probably be looking at 10S2P or 12S2P per motor.($$$$$$)

Could you not save a lot of weight and cost of batteries buy running
TWO - 2217 1.5Y motors on 6S2P each.
You would have half the battery weight and half the battery cost.

There are other motors that would run on 8S2P and you would still save weight and cost.

yes i probably came across a bit rude :sorry:
just people get frustrated and confused when people start giving advice thats not always based on the application.
for people to say the rpm is to low isnt necessarily correct as the motor rpm is up there with modded gas motors and torque is slightly higher.
but yes if people are going to do boats that are not the normal thing a full description is needed plus there goals (speed/run time)

Yea, sorry, I should have clarified the "ssssss" in "motorssssss".
It stands for slippery, slimey, smooth, speedy, satisfactory and, uh, supercalifragalistiexpialodocious

Id like to start off with where did i change my post to say im going to use 2 esc's and 2 sets of batteries???? Have a read through again, i cant find it??

My original post was that i wanted info on this motor ( 1900zr ) drop in zenoah replacement.
I at no point said i wanted to run 1,2,3,4 of these motors, i just wanted info, therefore if i had found one in a decent size gas boat, i would have considered running 1 in mono, and 2 in my cat.
Although No number nor hull info was needed for you users, as i was asking about the unit itself, not how it would go in my Ct03 or any of my hulls, otherwise i would have given you dimensions etc.

THEN

When i had little to NO answers about it , i thought i would continue on and reply to Stevens post, to note that i had thought of running the 2230's and the 2215's in my MHZ Ct03. I am So sorry i wrote ( 's ) after each motor, but if i ment smooth i wouldnt have used an epostrophe. I also mentioned running 12s a side in this reply which in plain english would mean i was going to run more than 1 motor !! And also at this point said this setup would be for my CT03.
It got confusing because after i replied to Steven in hope he would shead some light on this reply, NitroVal replied why not motorssss Which i immediatly thought he was talking about the reply above his, as thats usaly what people read last before they reply to the thread.

It snow balled from there >
Truck pull i can see where your coming from, but if you cant see from my angle then :Shame_on_You:
Please also note that text can be read with the tone in which you choose, im not being rude here but trying to help explain.
The fact that you replied at all shows you were only trying to help.. and i appreciate that.

Use the motor. Why not? It is a Nue and is high quality. Nearly the best you can get. If Andrew has told you this would work, take his advise. He knows this stuff very well. One heck of a price as well. Great find. If you dont use this motor the 2215 2.5Y is also a good comparison.
