I am starting to put together a twin setup in a 45" cat.
Motors are Lehner 1950-5 on 6S. (2x3.2kw)
Expecting speeds to be 100mph +
I realy want to use piano wire instead of flex shafts and have had my mind set on that for while.
However what I realy don't know is will a 2mm piano wire be able to handle the power from such a set up?
I think it will be fine but is there anybody that positively know it will work great?
I have the 2mm wire and all the details I need to use it.
The length of each wire will be less than 8"
Thanks

2mm will hold if you run smaller props and high rpm on that twin. The holding power will be at the stub depending on your design. 8" is pretty short unless you have little bend.

That is what I hoped for. I have a pair of ABC 1516/3 props on the way.
The Motors are 2508rpm pr volt, so rpm will be high on 6S.
I will probably start testing on 5S before I go 6S.
Will use set screws on stub and wire.

I was ok with 1734kv on 6S, 45mm prop... the wire it much stronger than that...

My most powerful setup so far, uses a 17" long 2mm wire with 1inch long oversize stuffing tube that doesn't touch the wire, sealed by a short length of small ID silicone tube, I take the thrust at the strut, its a 36" cat with 1200kv Neu 1521/2.5d on 8s which produces about 3kw on an X646 although I have seen peaks up to 4.2KW.
