Anyone convert a Seaducer SD3 into a FE? I am thinking of doing this conversion and wanted some info. Anyone here have a SD3 that they converted? If so, please give specs and photos.

I know Jerry C. runs his SD3 hulls with .21's. Thinking this would be a great hull with a BL in it:bounce:

Are you looking at ordering one new or buying a used gasser? Are you looking to run SAW, oval, or sport? I've got a SD3 33 and a 38 I ordered new that I'm building for Blue Lake in the spring. When I placed the order I told them I was going to use them for FE SAW with 3" stringers. The stringers are glassed in 3 ply. I wish I would have had them put 5 ply in. Both hulls are very light.

I also have a SD3 42 gasser. It has 5" stringers and is noticably heavier. I was planning on using it for T Mono eventually but not anymore.

Doug IS the resident expert. He has a ton of records with the SD3.

These hulls are incredible.

Thanks for the replys guys. I see that Doug S. is the expert. I know he is a member here. Hopefully he'll catch this thread and respond.

I am looking to get a new hull. This would be for sport only. Before I order, I need to know what motor and motor mount I will be useing. This wasy when Jerry builds the hull he'll know what spacing to use for the stringers?

Hi Fellas,
Unfortunately we lost the FE Seaducer expert Capt Ron back in January.

I'll take some picks of my 33 and post them here, I was suposed to do this for Sean several weeks ago. Sorry for the delay Sean.

I did one a while ago as my first FE boat. It did not run nearly as good as my DF33 though. The seaducer ran very wet with the high power (also high weight) set-up. May have been better with a 1515 1P combo. I ran a 1521 2P set-up. I ended up selling the hull and building a DF33 instead.

I have several pics on IW on the hull, here are several:

Here are a few pics of my Seaducer FE 33.

The first pics are of the "irrigated shaft alley", "flooded shaft log", ect.

This allows you to raise, lower the strut and adjust in neg. or positive. Notice the bad pic :huh:of the elongated hole in the transom.

I built this boat for SAWs, but I have no doubt that with a motor and ESC change, it would be very competitive on the oval course.

However you set it up make sure that you can move the cells fore and aft to adjust the CG. The CG on this boat is at 8 7/8", approx 27% and as you can see there is still room to adjust the cells. The cells are Neu 4 x 2s 4900, each side is wired in series then parallelled at the esc.
The down side is the hatch or lack there of. They are a pain to tape up. I keep threatening to build a better hatch but haven't done so.

Hardware: Use Seaducer hardware and mount it exactly as Jerry says to in the 20 mono instructions.

Here is a good example of a bad SAWs pass in 07, but I still set the record at 73.XXX . If the video was better you could see that the boat was laying it's side. :olleyes:I hadn't noticed that the rudder had a slight bend in it from previous punishment.:o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XPrhdggI84

Hope this helps.

Thanks Doug! I see what you mean, a pain in the butt to tape up. I guess I will just build a hatch for mine!
