I have one of the 1717 motors coming in for one of my trucks. Hopefully we can get some water jackets for the 15** motors though, they would be very nice for boats. Neu/Castle quality with price/performance that's hard to pass up.

Yes, I saw them at the RCX earlier this year, they seem nice, although I have not seen any in action.

This is really cool though...

I'm building water jackets for the 1515, 1518 and 1717 I have sitting here. I have huge expectations for the 1717.

I'm lanning on testing the 1717 in a new 6S rigger.

WOW, just in time to change all the NAMBA rules for 2010! WooHoo
Make these the only legal motors allowed in all classes.

WOW, just in time to change all the NAMBA rules for 2010!

WHY would ANY NAMBA rules need to change in 2010 to allow these motors??? :confused2:

Even a water jacket for the 1717, that would be a sweet boat motor! I haven't gotten mine yet (ordered when they came out, just waiting on UPS) but that should prove to be a whopper of a motor.

The rules for the open classes, other than the stupid paralleling limitation, are written fine... so again, no need to change anything... People can chase the latest and greatest all they want, just like they always have!

Being the only Castle sponsored FE guy, I hope that wasn't directed at me.

I'm staying way clear of the rule writing. Too many conflicts:smile:.

Brian...I am sure not. But I am calling Castle to see if they would sponsor Steve Hill...or at least send him a t-shirt...even if I have to pay for it .

You are the only one? You deserve it. Well maybe Twaits jr could hit that mark but not many others.

I agree... it's nice to have people in these positions to help with development so the rest of us can get the quality products we need... :thumbup1:

Thanks guys.

The funny thing about the sponsored racers I know, every one has the best interests of the hobby in mind. Now we may not agree on everything, but no one is sitting there saying "this is bad for the hobby, lets do it".

Ultimately, I do this for selfish reasons. I want more people to race with. I want new, cool technolgy to play with. I like to see people out running boats, having fun with something I had a hand in. I don't want to be the only one at the lake. I want people to kick my tail with my own designs. Me, me ,me!!! Completely selfish reasons, and I think the other "sponsored" guys see it any differently.

The pics don't do it much justice, it easily dwarfs my 2650 (1512-sized). It's big, beautiful, and should have plenty of grunt.

Would a castle 1717 (1580kv) push a df cyberstorm as well as a 1521 1y (1577kv)? Ose recommends 4s for the 1717...i would want to use 6s for both motors..fe calc says around 180 amps..i guess my question is is the 1521 worth the extra 45.00 or so or would the 1717 just be slower...mph goals are mid fifties..love that cyberstorm hull!

Just saw the 120 amp rating..maybe not such a good idea on 6s
