Definitely a needed tool, it looks heavy which could help but the aluminum construction might dissipate heat making it a little more difficult
One would never know without using it, so I'm definitely not knocking it like I said it looks valuable..

Steve is that some sarcazm for using aligator clips?:biggrin:
I use them to but I cant keep them still...thats why I like the looks of this tool if its nice and heavy

Get a Pana-vise. They have a version with two alligator clips that you can adjust to hold the wire and connector separately, then just solder.
Useful for lots of stuff besides connectors, too.

Yep, amazing what you can do with a block of wood, clothes pin and a screw.lol
Works good and lasts a long time!

Yeah, I use one too, mine ids the "deluxe" version with the soldering iron stand and sponge built in lol.. Works, but a pain to keep tensioned
