So who else has ordered the $80.00 4s rigger from Zippkits.com?
Anyone modifying the FREE .21G2 plans for FE and building?

I've modified and built the 12, scaled up to a little larger than sport .21....right at the paint stage...will be able to post a pic in a week or so. Should be running in less than 2 weeks. Motor is going to be scorpion 3026....and or neu 1415 1y both on 4s. They are cool little boats..

Spoke to the designers at length yesterday, this design [with out modification!] should make for a F/E rocket ship in my opinion.

Just to let you guys know, those would run MUCH better in Colorado around the end of August. Just a friendly hint to come on down to the Nats, we would LOVE to have your clubs.

Thats cool to hear. I'm reading allot about the nitro version on IW. Not much at all about the FE version. Looks like we have at least three on order for D12. Can't wait to see them!!!

On the list also. I may pull the motor and Fullers hardware from the Matrix that I run with a Neu 1512 1.5D, and CC 240lv. Cant wait to see the build threads on here. Maybe a Neu 1515y on 4s would would be a way to go .:flame42:

I sent them an Email when i first heard they were coming out with a FE kit but I guess it must have been eaten by their spam filter, as there are no dimensions for it online yet has anyone spoken to them and found out how big it is? I've heard its for P spec hydro but I believe you allow 4s2p, will 8 cells fit in? or will it only fit 4s1p? The only size listed on their site is that it is for 36mm motors, does that mean a watercooled 40mm 15 series Neu won't fit in? What about lengthwise, will a XL size 36mm can fit?

I received an email on Tuesday stating that they have not put any kits together yet and could or would not give me the dimensions. They then went on to say they will not sell direct to Aust and will have to deal with Coilin Buckmaster at http://www.ozrcboatsupplies.com. Read more expensive

There will be plans available, I have an advance set. It is basically the .21g {nitro] boat with the rear boom moved back to the very rear top corner of the sponson so the speed control goes under the sponson tube in front of the motor an batteries in front of that. I would like the tub height to be 2.25 tall instead of 2.00 to allow for the velcro and tie down straps. Weight HAS to be 60-40% with this design. It is 30" long without hardware and fits the UL-1 power system as designed with 1P. If you want more power than 4s 1p 5000 build from the plans and widen the hull for 4s 2p.

I was told that the tube is 2.5" wide.

I have 5 on order.

I also have the FE plans and can give some dimensions. It's very close to the 21G2, with both booms moved back, rear bulkhead moved and a slight change to the sponson profile (but not running surfaces).

Transom dimensions (which will give the internal tub size) are 2-15/16" wide and 1-15/16" high.

Boat is 30" from sponson tip to transom (add a bit if you want to include the ski).

Lipo drawn is 7" long by 1-47/64" high by 2" wide. Motor looks to be a UL1 or similar, and back of it sits slightly above tub sides (so a bubble of some kind is needed). The speed control shown is 4" long, so you should be able to easily fit a longer motor in there, depending on your lipo and ESC. Hatch opening above lipo and motor is about 16" long (there's 2 different dims on the plan, will no doubt be fixed).

Length between front bulkhead and rear sponson boom is 9-11/16. Height from tub floor to centre of rear boom is 1-11/64" (ESC is shown under this boom).

Rod Geraghty was kind enough to send me the plans last week, but I can't guarantee that these dimensions will be the final kit dimensions. Hope this helps.

I just received an e-mail from Joe Petro and he said that they are a week behind and will expect to start shipping next week. I've been on the list for 4 kits for my club members and myself for quite some time. Can't wait to get a Spec rigger class going here in Atlanta. I think we will power them with a UL-1 system.

Just for future reference guys, Jim Geiger who owns Performance Graphix of Virginia will have available, decals of the JAE checkered flag logo as well as JAE21FE decals. He can do them in any size and color you want. Jim is an RC boater that does custom cut vinyl graphics as well as high quality durable printed vinyl graphics that DO NOT need clear coating. So when the time comes, contact him if you need any JAE decals or any other graphics for that matter.

Our JAE 21FE kit differs from the JAE 21GE.
We designed the FE tub to hold a 4 cell 4000-5000 mah "brick", and a 36mm water cooled UL-1 type of inrunner.

Our kit has a flat top with tape down lids, so the tub inside dimensions are 2.5 wide and 2.25 high.
We chose not to modify the sponson boom locations, as this would mean more parts and expense. As it is, both 21 boats (21G2 nitro and 21FE) share the same sponsons.
We are having billet motor mounts made specifically for this application by Lawless Drives.

As for delivery date, here is the scoop:
We are currently cutting the nitro kits. We do production runs of 40 kits a week.
On Thursday, we will begin cutting the FE kits, with shipping beginning the following Monday.

We have a waiting list for the 21FE, so if you are considering this boat, please email list @ zippkits dot com.

We are working hard to stay as close to release dates as possible, but not at the expense of quality.
We are cutting kits as fast as we can get raw materials.

Thanks for being patient, and if you have any questions, please email us. No PM's or posts please. We check email all day, but rarely get to the forums.

Thanks

Watching that game as a Redsking fan was kind of like watching a Tsunami coming in while standing on the beach. You see it and don't quite believe it's happening. :confused1: But you still know it's comming. Then you just hope it misses you. Then CRASH!!!! :crying: Oh well, Dan Snyder doesnt sign my pay checks.l.......

How did you find out you were on the "A" list Kent? Did Joe contact you or did you drop him a email. When did you get on the list? I signed up November 20th.

Hey!

I emailed Joe today originally to find out if the Lawless motor mounts would be included in the FE kits (they won't be...he is still waiting on them to be sent to him before deciding what they will each cost)...then I just asked if I was even on the first run...

I put my order in with him on Nov. 17 and was contacted by him on NOV. 18...so you might be good!!

The topic of JAE hulls came up. Here is my version of the .12 enlarged. I built this before the .21 was created. So the scaled up plans here are a little different than the jae .21 fe version. this hull is just about 31.5" tip to tip. fits neu 1515, and turnigy 4s 5000mah lipos perfectly. I have the cog balanced right about 1/4 in front of the turn fin center. (as soon as it gets to a temp anywhere ABOVE 15 degrees here, I will finish the paint. It is sealed and ready to go) finished the plug for a fiberglass layed up, bubble lid. to go with this hull and my other riggers. just thought I'd share its progress.

Anyone had any luck with the link to the pdf of the instruction manual on their site? It seems broken... Any other source for the manual?

Is it an easy kit to assemble for builders new to riggers...?

Yurkanip, don't forget to seal the inside of the tub also!

lomdel, use the instructions for the Nitro version, the build is the same.

mine is traced straight off the nitro version w/ no revisions of the booms, you will need the other sheets of the plans for the nitro kit to use this. very easy to build these jae hulls all you need is the width's of the sponsons and the booms. pm me if you need the other pages

OK, I got my nitro version last Thursday. If you built the .12 version, you're going to love the .21/FE! The sponsons are so much easier to build.
I've spent the past couple of late nights plus some more just before coming up for lunch. Get a nice flat area to work, lay down some waxed paper, mix up some epoxy and go to town! It does build quickly but read the manual over 2 or more times if you have to before starting.
I'll help when I can with some questions that can work with either version.
