Great to see you will run a P-Spec crackerbox class! I'm trying to get our club amped for them but so far no interest because nobody makes a reasonable size cracker! We need a 28-30" fiberglass cracker hull!

There is a FG one coming out and also some wood kits in the very near future.

:rockon2: There has been a lot of work getting done for the FE Nationals. Things are starting to fall in place but a lot still needs to be done. We have sponsors for nearly 1/2 of the classes. And the schedule is Pretty much in place. As we had a lot of racers coming in for just the weeks end races we have decided to flip thursday and fridays race schedule, all Off Shore classes will be raced on Thursday and all of the classes that would have been ran on Thursday will now be on Friday we simply changed the 2 days with each others schedule. Please try to register as early as possible as somethings need to be ordered ahead of the race. Its shaping up to be a great race. Hope to see you all there! :http://www.2010fenambanats.com/index.html

 The Namba 2010 Fe Nats would like to extend a big thanks to Don Wollard and Doug Twaits of Rum Runner Racing and Rum Runner Hobbies. They are going to sponsor the pit tent area. The tent cost is a big expense and they' re sponsoring it which lifts a large financial load from the event, Thanks Guy. This is a great Help. This is shaping up to be a great Nats!!!:beerchug:

I might have missed it Rod, but which lake is it going to be? (edit Sanborn Park, just saw it) I see that it's in Greeley? That makes it more doable for me for sure - cuts it down to a 9hr drive instead of 12+...

I sent my registration off today. I registered for...
P-mono
P-offshore
LSH
P-sport hydro

I didn't register for p-spec hydro as I wasn't sure if it would be ready by then. Is it possible to register for an additional class the day before the race if I get it done by then?

Hey Rod,

LOL, Can we call you Hey Rod? No Seriously I have a couple questions.

If us Wisconsin guy's come a day early, would we have access to the course?

Is there 110v at the site or are we all bringing generators?

Are we able to keep our covered trailers at the site for over night or do we have to pull them to the Hotel?

Thanks - Doug

D. Peterson has no N2 Sport Hydro.

I should be in P Spec Limited Hydro, P Mono, P Spec Limited Offshore, N2 Offshore, P Offshore, N2 Mono, S+T Combined Hydro, P Spec Limited OPC and P Spec Limited Sport Hydro.

My P Spec Limited Hydro and S+T Combined Hydro entry is based on me getting the boats finished and tested.

I may also throw in my Supervee so the production class can run.

If you can't or don't want to hassle with last day changes to the roster let me know.

:thumbup1:Time seems to be flying by, there is only 5 weeks exactly till open water. Still some things to get in place but shaping up to be a great time. We are still getting a few entries and inquiries about later entries so some racers are still trying to make the race. Once again Rum Runner Racing has stepped up with more support, RRR have decided to sponsor a specal Crackerbox concourse award which will include an award from the race and a gift prize that can be used at Rum Runner Hobbies, There will also be a non Crackerbox concourse. Thanks Don, Eddie and Dougie.Looking forward to meeting some old freinds and making some new ones. Here is an up dated class entry list.:rockon2:

Does anyone have ideas on shipping boats and tools to the race? I brought them on the plane in the past. But it doesnt seem like a good idea now.

I have good luck with Fedex Ground. Never had anything damaged or arrive late and their rates are really good! About 5 or 6 days from Tampa to Phoenix and points west. Don't give anything to UPS! They charge WAY more and I swear they could break an anvil!

:banana:Where has time gone? It seems we were just talking about hosting the FE Nats in Colorado and now we are only 3 weeks away from Racing in Greely.
This past Sunday we had a race and meeting in Greeley where the Nats are going to be held. A lot of stuff in in place and we are now making the final push, setting up heats, CD list and duties ect ect.. Still a lot to be done but time rolls on. At this point the only class that may not make a feild is 1/8 "Scale" Unlimited Hydroplane. If some guys are still on the fence, we will be taking some late entries, but the sooner the better if you want to make the trip to Colorado. Some racers have sent e-mails or PMs stating they are coming but we have not received those entries as of yesterday. For the folks who had asked about entering very late as they are trying to shuffle schedules and won't know till late weather they can attend or not, try to let us know once you find out if you can make the trip. Thats is still Ok Here is the current entry list. If you are not on it we have not received your entry as of yesterday. This is coming together to be a great race, Looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones . :thumbup1:

I think the Team points is going to be pretty cool with LSH being the largest class and on the last day it may be the deal breaker. I think the team and overall points winners can be any bodys title ,if they have a little luck and well played game, These should be a blast. I'm trying to figure something out.
I have a couple of options for shipping my boats and tools.

First is the have them checkin with the airline.
But I'm not sure if they will allow me to check-in tools like screw drivers, scissors and things like that? I'm getting differing opinions when I call the airlines.

Second is I ship to the hotel, but I'm not sure how I can have the things shipped back if Fedex is closed on Saturdays. Any ideas?

Ask the race organizers if one of them would let you ship your stuff to them instead of the hotel. Also ask if anyone would be willing to have a Fedex 'pickup' at their place the following Monday.

Thanks for the offer. I found some hard facts on checkin limitations.

I will drag everything on the plane, expect batteries and chargers. Those I will send to the hotel and ask you guys to ship them back the following week.

Steven:what airline are you on and how much do they charge for checked baggage?

Here's what I've done when flying to races and I only fly Southwest now as they don't charge for 2 checked bags:

I've got 2 wood crates that I built to airline specifications.. I think something like 36"X14"X12" and I keep each one under 50 lbs.

The crates get tools, bare hulls, servos, hardware, tape, misc parts, Tx/Rx.

I mail ESC's, motors, batteries, chargers/balancers & power supplies. Some of these items could go in the crates, but I then come up against the max weight limitation.

:w00t:Just a little reminder we are going to try and run 4 rounds of every class. In order to get this done that means the pace will be quick and needs to keep moving, Once a Heat is finished the retrieval boats will go out if needed. Once the retrieval boat is cleared and on shore the next class will need to be ready to go. If no Boats are left after a heat the next heat will go on the clock. All boats should be in the hot pits well before thier heats and ready to get on the water. So plan yor charging ect. As the pace will need to keep moing to get the 4 rounds in.:Praying:

:help:I think this is the final entries, There may be some differences as a couple of guys have made some changes. I think I have them but we can make some final adjustments if needed. I am a couple of hundred miles away from Greeley and a lot of the stuff that came early is already there. So I don't have all of the entries and changes right in front of me. Will adjust once we get to Greeley if need be. But this should be pretty close.

This is hands down one of the best races I've attended. Today we had fall off the bone barbeacue and a cooler LOADED with an assortment of brews..

Pancake flat water all weekend, LOTS of chase, 'em down swap positions paind swappin' racin'. everyone is racing real close, good vibes all around.

There's a trail running through our pits with a constant flow of ladies jogging and walking, and i'd say one out of 4 are eye kandy lol..

BIG collage of new electronic tech combined with an assortment of intersting scratch built out of the box ideas that work

I don't know the full score so i'm not gonna' post anything.
All I can say is this was the PERFECT mix of drivers.

Rod throws a first class colorful race..

OK i'll feed you monkeys somethin' juicy.. Guess who's throwin' the 2011 nats??

KEN HAINES AND THE WAVE BLASTERS!! It will be in FLA an SO will I yipee!!!!!

Everyone's havin' a great time out here from wrestling matches, to pig outs, to name calling its truly a blast..
For the record, I ate 5 plates of barbeacue, and 6 delicious sandwiches (provided by David Newland) for 20 bux!

Oh, and Randy, I made a mistake, our new N-1 mono 3-lap record is 1.30

:rockon2:The 2010 NAMBA FE nats are now part of history. We returned home early this morning. After I've had some time to catch my breath we will be posting the results, some photos and a few recaps. However at this time I would like to post a few things that I think are the true High Lights of the event. The true high point of the FE NATs is the induction of a Great person, racer and a true Gentleman in to the NAMBA hall of fame. I would like to congradulate MR. DOUG TWAITS JR.,for his induction. He is the youngest and first FE racer to be inducted in to the Hall of Fame. Congradulations, it is well deserved. We are Honored to have the induction announced at the 2010 FE Nationals in Greeley Colorado. A couple of other Highs of the event are the winners of the team Championship. Once again Team RUMRUNNER RACING is the standout team, The members are Doug Twaits Jr., Mike Paganelli and David Rychalski. Another great racing performance of the race was shown by David Newland as he has been awarded the the overall High Points Champion . Great Job Guys!!!:beerchug:

Rod, I have to confess that people were talking behind your back all weekend..
You wouldn't believe the stuff they were sayin'!

Stuff like "Rod sure threw a great race"

"this has been the best nationals yet" "What a great atmosphere"

"This race is running smoothly"

I didn't wanna' tell you, but i felt you must know :bounce:

Rod, my hat goes off to you. That was a gratifying series of events you lined up from the pig roast to the banquet.

Leaving that race felt like the last day of school, but I'll get to see all my buddies again next summer.

:thumbup1:Now that the water has setteled and I have had a day to rest and reflect, I think I can say the NAMB 2010 Fast Electric Nationals were a huge success. We had a few minor glitches but they were quickly resolved. I am very proud of NAMBA District 20 and Rocky Mountain Thunder Boats. As our club is very young and had never done a larger race let alone a National event we needed a support system. Robert Holland director of district 20 and The Nitro and gas clubs of district 20, Northern Colorado Nitro Burners and Rocky Mountain Marine Modelers were our back bone and support. They did all of the site work as we are 200 miles away and saved our butts may times over. I would like the say THANK YOU for all of the hard work and dedication to the hobby. I think it shows gas and electric clubs can work together and be very sucessful.

We were pretty much blessed for most of the week with great weather with the exeption of Thursdays brief wind and rainstorm. Temps were a bit hot to the mid 90's. Water conditions were nearly perfect and made for great racing.
We were able to field 24 of the 25 classes with a 3 boat minimum. The only class of the 25 planned classes that was not ran was 1/8 scale unlimted Hydroplane. I think as a lot of guys traveled its hard to bring large beautiful boats and risk damage.

After each morning drivers meeting the racing began by 9:00 am We ran a pretty quick pace to try and meet our 4 rounds per class goal. we tried to meet all drivers needs with any having back to back races. The drivers did a fantastic job of keeping up and we were able to run 4 rounds of every class and finish daily with time left for open water testing of the following days classes.
We had tons of great racing on Wednesday the P-limited classes had lots of head to head battles and very close finishes. The N-2 and P-limited hydros were fantastic lots of great racing. In N-1 Mono, Bill Oxidean set a new 3 lap 1/2 mile record. And Jason Sims was the oustanding Driver in the production class and took the plunge, However he got even and and took ken Haines in to the pond with him A 2 for 1 kind of thing LOL. We closed the Day with a Pizza Party at Old Chicago Pizza.

Thursday was all Off Shore racing. The weather was great for the Off Shore classes, cool and cloudy all day with a slight breeze that would create just enough chop to provide true Off Shore conditions. LSO was one of the largest Class feilds filling 3 full heats of 7 boats each. Lots of action and great racing all day many race were won or lost by a bouy cut or called penalty. By late in the day the clouds turned black and the had wind turned ugly. Just before the last heat of the day a storm blew in and reaked a bit of havoc. Pit areas had to be secured and closed up to keep things from being damaged. We had a Lagre Pit Tent that had been Provided by Don Wollard , Rum Runner Racing and Doug Twaits Jr. of Rum Runner Hobbies. This provided all of the folks plenty of shelter. Once the storm passed we gathered inside the tent for a great true Bar-B- Que dinner served up by Swinestone Cowboy Bar-B-Que. The Dinner was sponsored by Steven Vacarro and Off Shore Electrics.com We sat down to some great Pulled Pork, Ribs and Brews. I think all had a great time. THANK YOU DON, DOUG AND STEVEN FOR A GREAT EVENING.

Friday morning began with clear skies and great water with temps going to the 90+ mark by afternoon Lots of great racing in the N-2 Mono class I was really impressed with the speeds of the small power yet big punch these boats provide. most of the best of the best racers ran the class and it was a blast to see them run head to head time and time again. One of the standout happening of the day was a boat destroying crash, It was between Mike Pag's big Cat and Chris K's fast mono. A racing incident that destroyed both boats leaving 1/2 of Mikes sponson broken off and stuffed insde Chris's mono. I'm sure it was a costly crash. It also seened the Day 3 curse had hit we had some damaging crashes in the P-hydro heats that damaged a few of the very fast riggers. We also ran the 1/6 Exhibition P- limited Crackerbox class It was a hoot to see that cracker can be raced sucessfully. We had 5 Crackers that drew a lot of attention I hope the class grows it was a gass to dive. I t was sad for me I was beat by one of the Cracker I had built for Chuck. He came out on top. We had a light turn out of modern scale 1/10 Ron Daum who came from Washington, ran his beautiful Elam then came out on top. Friday evening was left to an open evening with no plans. I went back to room and got ready for the largest heats which were coming up on Saturday.

On Saturday we once again had great weather and water but was again going to be hot. It was the day for P-Limited Sport Hydro/ LSH which is the largest class and had the most entries. We had so much great reacing in LSH that it was just a blast. There were sp many lead change it was hard to keep track of the leader But I think it is still one of the most fun classes. By the end of the day Sean Kewley and his beautiful Red Ducatti whiplash came out on top. Another huge class that is growing rapidly is P-Limited opc. Lots of great racing and it seemed it always came down to the best driver. David Newland can really drive the opc and ended with a top finish. N-2 hydros was also on the Saturdays menu. The riggers are fast and not very forgiving a field of 7 boats made for lots of possible things to go wrong but these guys can dive these things. What a blast. Once again Dog Twaits shown why he is the MAN and came out on top. The Q sport Hydros were screaming fast. But they had a hard time keeping up with Sean Cordovas Whiplash. He came out on top. But I don't think it official as he managed to wheezel out of going on to the pond to make it official. We also ran My very favorite class. It was hard but I had decided not to run to many classes as I knew I was going to be busy. By luck of the draw I did not run Vintage 1/10. It was sweet to see all of the Scale boats running the course a fantatic sight from the CD stand. In the end I receved some gratifacation as The "Short Circuit" Hydro That I had built For Chuck Alarid became the clear winner. Thats right a boat from PUEBLO, COLORADO beat the Boys from Washington And Detroit at there own game:banana:.J/K Kind of reminds me of the movie The Movie "The Madison" Chuck Did make it official by taking the plunge. Sweet, We had a concourse Judging , We had independant judges select their choices . For Best Boat the winner was Tom Costello's "My Sweetie" , Best Scale Hydroplane was Ron Daum's "Wild Root Charlie" and Best Crackebox Rod Sanata's "Crazy Horse" We closed the day and the event with an awards banquet at the Best Western Convention center. We were served up some fine food followed up by the closing raffle prizres. These were some great donations. We had received A UL-1 RTR from Aquacraft and the big winner was Robert Holland. And a great Cracerbox buid kit From Rich Koll and Mack products. Winner of that one was Fred Siewert.
We then moved on to the awards. The high light was Doug Twaits Jr. To The NAMBA hall of fame, follwed by high points Champion David Newland and The Team Champions, Team Rum Runner, With Doug Twaits Junior, Mike Paganelli and Dave Rychakski. If anyone would like to add events I have missed I hope you'll share them. I will be adding a full thank you thread as well. For those who have taken pictres please post or e-mail them and we can share the race. I think it was fine event, I had a great time and hope all attending did as well!!!

To All:

As a Junior Member of this foum and FE Sport Runner from North Carolina - I was lucky enough to be on vacation in Colorado during this FE Event, and actually got some pretty good video, mostly of Rounds 2,3, & 4 for all four days.

As time permits, I will be glad to share all video I have. Breaking in a new camera caused some video to be corrupt; however I am editing thru what I have and will post accordingly.

I will have to say that this is one of the best sport groups I have ever been associated with, and with the amount of knowledge present, and the willingness to share, just made the whole event that much more enjoyable. My hats off to a great national event.

Now to the good stuff! One of the most dramatic races of the event - filmed already in progress. Look to the 40 second mark, and freeze frame that segment - you can see boats in the air briefly on the right hand side of the screen. Wish I had been zoomed in for that. The last two videos show the aftermath.

Here is more video footage from NAMBA 2010 FE Nationals.

For your Supervee Lovers - here is a heat from Day 1.

Ken Haines told me that this was one the most poular classes at Wave Blasters of Florida Club

My commentary may not be spot on as I am learning as I go; however I didn't see any other boats other than the stock Supervees running.

Later on I found this post.

I won the heat in that video. Mine was the red supervee with sparkles all over it.
I'd have to say Jason Simms was probably the smartest driver at the event it was amazing and won big.

He probably has a back-up standing by.

I ask him kind of jokeingly if he planned to repair it, and he said it would never be the same, and for $ 200 bucks it probably wasn't worth it.

It looked like a pretty nasty hole.

Q-Hydro posted today.

Thanks for that reply LuckyDuc. Enjoyed talking to you also.

When you told me your handle, the first thing I thought about was the video of your UL-1, and how your kids and family were enjoying the show.

That video actually inspired me to more experimentation with that craft. I liked the way you pushed the envelope.

I did check out the build you have posted. Very nice. That would be a way ambitious project for me personally.

Anyway - thanks for the reply.

Good job Billy. I knew you had a red Supervee, I just wasn't sure if that was yours.

I did like the way you jumped to the lead. I guess it's all about the mill timing, and picking the right lane, huh?

Did you get any of the LSH heats from Sat?

skiking1739

I'm pretty sure I did LuckyDuc.

I'm at work right now - but I will check when I get home.

I got to the sight way before the lunch break on Saturday. Ran the camera battery dry, and re-charged while everyone took lunch break.

Batterys were recharged and got back to the sight about 1:30 and shot video until the event ended.

I also changed cameras, and Saturdays footage is all in 720P High Definition.

I remember the announcer saying LSH was the hardest to win - hopefully I'll have it.

Will advise.

Wil-just for you, since this was your best Nat's to date.

You ran 10 classes.

1st place: N-1 Mono

2nd place: N-2 Sport
Production
N-2 Mono

5th place: N-2 Offshore
N-2 Hydro
LSH

Needless to say, 7 out of 10 classes you did 5th place or better. That's the most consistent you've ever been! Nice work, man.

Oh, you've also attended the last 3 Nat's (did you go to Washington in '07?) and only 3 others can say this.
