Thanks Diegoboy. I ran her today for about 5 minutes before the chop became too much. I am very happy with it. I need to level the strut out a little, the stern keeps trying to come out of the water completely.

Man that looks nice, can't wait to finish mine. does the pheniox controller work with a pistol grip radio? I couldn't wait for the hardware or esc and glued the top together, hope that wasn't a mistake lol. I just wanted to build it.

Yes. I run mine with a JR pistol radio, no issues.

It should be okay. just a little tighter when accessing the transom.

K, do you think that the mamba 25 would be a ok speed controler? Or should I just run a phenoix? I think I could find the mamba cheaper.

The only difference between the Mamba and the Phoenix is that the mamba has reverse.

Ok, I think I might get the mamba 25 because my luck I will get it stuck in the weeds and could use reverse to get me out. I'll post some pics later of my progress

I wouldn't try reversing with this boat, the stern sits very low in the water as it is, never mind adding the water that will come splashing over it when you reverse.

You got a point there, well I guess I'll just go for the pheniox.

I got bored so I made a boat stand, out of some scrap 1/8" balsa. It Looks ok, needs a coat of paint. Its nothing special but it will work.

One thing I just noticed on yours, flip the motor mounting screws around. Otherwise they will interfere when you try to put in the battery.

'83 chevy

Total length from bullet nut tip to sponson tip is 15 3/4" and the width is 9"

I took her for a rip today but I wont elaborate on that, I'd rather forget that run.

Ok, also what servo works good, I see that a hitec hs-55 works but am not familiar with that servo. I want one that will center good, I had a rc18t mini truck and the mini servo wouldn't return to center, it was always off.

Diegoboy

Here is a updated pic of my progress, still havent fixed the motor screws yet lol. Kind of waiting for the hardware kit before I go much further.

I set the throttle trigger to 50/50 travel, put the throttle trim down to the lowest setting. Turn on the radio, and plug in the esc, wait for it to beep once, then go to I hit the throttle, and wait for it to beep again and it works.

Do you think that it makes a difference that the new one don't have a little skeg on the bottom? I would think that the octura strut would be a little better for stability?

Still trying to not get in trouble from the wife and buy the kit so I can finish the boat lol.

Well I think this might be up for sale soon. I wanna get a new 1:1 ( Dodge Cummins not a 24valve), so I need to start gathering up some money to buy it. I am completely lost when it comes to pricing things. So if anyone has ideas on where to start for prices please PM me with your ideas, don't post them here please.

'83 chevy
09-15-2007, 02:54 PM
ya I know I will be taking a hit on it badly, but I'm taking more of a hit having to keep my current truck fueled. I'm only getting 9-10mpg, and when I'm pulling the trailer I only get 7-8mpg. So thats why I want the diesel, I wont be working it as hard as I am on my gasser. And the millage will be better.

'83 chevy
09-15-2007, 09:22 PM
Well my dad and I have been talking, he told me I should wait until the end of school before I buy the new truck. He brought up the point of "if I sell my current truck to buy the cummins, what am I going to drive until I find one?" This also will mean that I can keep my current truck and use the rest of this year during which I will be working to save up some more money so that a can get a nicer one, and all the performance goodies I want to get for it(programmer, dual 5 or 6" stacks, lift and tires). This was one of my spur of the moment ideas, I never really thought this one completely through. I already have $2500 saved up and I can make the rest up working, I have 2 jobs. But when I sell all of my RC stuff I'll have about $1500 there:laugh: to add to the total.

This will give me a very nice goal to achieve

I am not trying to be mean, but I always thought it funny, when people say that cant afford gas. so they buy a new car to save on gas but get stuck with a huge car payment on top of the cost of gas. makes know sense to me, as i dont see were the savings are.

When I buy the new truck it is going to be bought outright, no monthly payments on my end. Diesel is a little bit more than gas right now but when I'll be getting twice the millage I am now it will be worth it.

Don't sell your RC stuff!! I sold some of my stuff, and now I am really regretting it! I took a huge hit on it, didn't get anywhere near half of what I spent on it. And now of course I miss it.
