Has anyone tried a motor upgrade? I am looking at the Castle Creation motors. Neu motors might be another alternative.

Any ideas, complaints, or suggestions? :help:

I ran the NUE 1515 1y (2200kv), Hydra 120, 4s2p, and M445 prop in my UL-1. Boat was hauling ACE (60 mph) until the Hydra 120 died. If you do run this setup be sure to use the Hydra 240.

BTW...using the smaller M440 prop the Hydra 120 lived a lot longer (57 mph).

Here's a good price on Hydra 240...$50.00 cheaper than other dealers!

I can see why the Hydra 120 burnt out! LOL. The max amp draw of the Neu 1515 1y is 2,500 Watts, which is way more than the ESC can handle. Even the continous wattage of 1,250 is still high. I think the Hydra 240 is still an under rated ESC at only 240 Amps.

all it is is 2 120's stacked, how could it be more

Yes, it is two 120's stacked. 120 x 2 = 240. However, 240 > 120, so it is more.

Plus if you are running in the vicinity of 14.4VDC x 240 amps = 3456 wattage. With a 120, the total wattage is 120 x 14.4VDC = 1728 wattage, which is less than what the motor is rated at (not good and equals undersupplied motor).

your implying it is more than 240 amps not 120
