Thought id post some pics of my buddies 30' spectre offshore with twin 300 merc's on the back, for all those offshore boat lovers like me. We take this boat out almost every weekend. Last time we went out we gps at about 90mph. This is why i got into cat rc boats.

Cool boat and pics but isn't this a video thread? I mean no offense, I would just love to see some 90mph action. Post some vids if you get a chance.

Who makes the hull?

Not sure where I would put it either. But if you do get some video, I'd love to see it, and you know where to post it. Happy boating!

Nice boat! I'm jealous you get to ride around it that!
At the lake I go to in New Hampshire there is a 36' Spectre with triples. When thats at full tilt, you can hear it singing from miles away. The sound just gets my juices flowing!

Ain't nothing sounding better than a merc at full song! Well OK two or three do sound better!

Very distinct sound when you turn them over! nothing like the sound from Evinrude or Johnson but much better!

Anyone seen those Pilot tenders with quad 250 Mercs buckled to em?? I've never really be a fan of outboards, until I saw that boat. These outboards have come along way. Still cant beat 500 inches of blown V8 though..

Yea, well triples are even better.. Nothing like 3600hp polluting the seas at a gallon a minute

Hmm, how many LiPos will I need to make it go? That's my future dream project to make something like that electric. I'll probably start with a jet-ski first.

What year is this Spectre? There is a good possiblity that I rigged that boat sine I used to work there.

That boat should be good for 105 or so from the factory, but with some tweaking there are guys that have run 110-112 with those 300 mercs. The fastest outboard 30 we did had tripple 2.5 mercs on the back and it would see near 120.

I am surprised someone built a 36 with trips since Jay would never sell a 36 outboard, I would like to see that.

The fastest 36 I rigged had twin 950 hp 602 engines with mercury #6 speedmasters. I was in that boat at 145.

One band I have not seen yet but had all their stuff in the 80s

My buddy just boat a Playcraft tri-toon and put a new 300 hp merc 4 stroke on it. Runs 61.

Can't even hear it idle..or feel it....the reason they put a start killer on it....it won;t try and start if it is running. They had to as people were eating starters.

This thing is turboed or something from the factory.

Some of the new 26 and 28 foot cats ...Dominator, etc, are pulling 100+mph with an I/O from the factory. Outboards sure sound good. We have several around us at the lake.....add $40,000 for twin O/Bs

2 weeks and the Offshore Superseries will be at the Lake Ozark (45 minutes from me....will have videos.

I haven't seen the boat close up. I saw it docked at the gas dock, at a restaurant and and flying by me one day. I have to admit I assumed it was a 36 since, it looked larger than my boat which is 30'.

It must be cool to work in the factory. Any news on Magic Power hulls being bought by Cougar? I always dream about owning a Magic Power cat/deck boat. I was sad when I heard they have gone out of business.

its a 2000. He had the motors done up when he bought it. He has been through ten motors on that thing, and now that he has the heads pretty much back to stock it has run the longest it ever has. in my opinion keep o/b's stock, they rip already from factory. love the ride...90 in a boat feels like 150 in a car, couldnt imgaine 145 in a boat.

Steven, I learned quite a bit about rigging and building boats when I worked for spectre. I don't know anything about Magic Power boats though.

Yes those 3 liter 300s are pretty bad ass motors. There was a slightly higher output version called the 300x that was 330 hp at the prop. As far as modding these motors, it really comes down to who is doing the work. There are a couple of companies out there that can make some pretty good hp and make them last.
