Check out the end of the "conversion" thread.

What prop did you use with the other motor?

Do your self a favor...buy a feigao and unload that quantam while you can still get somthing for it. IMO your hull is way to big to for that motor to push and now you are intraducing lipos into the equasion. I have a feeling you are in for issues with that motor.

issues with the quantam or feigao? since i figured ill need 24 cells, (and now lipos) i am having serious doubts with this quantam.....its a good airplance engine, it will turn a big prop with a lot of tourque...maybe ill give it to someone who would use it for that...

i would have used a larger lehner....but the prices for that are kind of over the top for me.....

To elaborate...I beleive the quantam is a lower quality motor. IMO I don't think it will hold up. I have no proven data to suport my opinion. I am just a firm believer in " you get what you pay for".

I have run 19.2 volts through my 12XL for 7.5 minutes WOT 80% of the time on a 45mm prop. Temps where 85 to 95 degrees.
I would say the 10 will handle that. The kvm ratings are not that far apart.

                    same

I have run 18 cells (21.6volts) on the 10XL. Ray Fuller said not to push more than a 5lb boat with it on direct drive.

sounds good, ill be using the14XL so the lower KV will mean it can hold up to more weight to push, right?

the feigaos are50000 rpms max. pick a kv that will come in under that at 28.8v and u should be fine.

well, if the 2 10xl's will push the boat without problem, and i run the 18.5v supposedly with a calculator i found this boat will be above 100mph minus drag from rudder and hull. I dont think it will do it but I guess we'll see. Hope for the best and expect the worst!
