    IB cells

Hey guys, I was just looking around the web and found a battery dealer you may or may not know about.

I emailed their sales department to inquire about their policy regarding dead cells. Here is the email reply I received. (only ten minuted after I sent it)

    Tim,
As you are probably aware on the 4200mAh cell, there has been many zero volt
defects. We voltage test all cells prior to leaving the warehouse due to
this problem. If you happen to obtain one, and no work has been done on the
cell, we will replace or credit it. This problem I have not seen on other
    capacities at all.

Due to this major defect problem, and their massive upcoming price increase,
we have tested and started selling the new Elite 4500 cells. These have
such a high demand that it is very hard for me to keep them in stock.
Depending on initial quantity you need I might be able to spare some from
    our April 20th shipment.

    Pat

I'm going to pick up some 3600 and 3800 cells and check them out, I'll let you know how it goes.

For me at least, right now, it is price. I'm running 16 and 24 cells in two different boats, I just can't afford to power these with lipo's at this time. I just counted my cells, I have 92 3800's that I began buying last spring and they are all still going strong. out of the 48 4200's I've bought two of them are dead. for now I'm going to have to stick with the 3800's and 3600's and take my chances.

Guys, I tested Elite 4500's, same problem. I know Pat at TNR and he is okay but don't buy the IB3800's either. The IB3600's are okay

Steve, do you have 24 of the 3600's on hand? I'd rather buy them from you if you still have them.

Cant really take advantage of the benifits of lipos with my current boats (mainly deep V's), I shaved off a pound of weight over 12 cells with a123s before, the boat was super crisp handling and about 2 mph faster top end,(on calm days), but in semi choppy seas it was very unforgiving. I can see why everyone is going to larger boats for lipo, not necessarly because of the extra power available, the boat now has much less ballast. Long story short, Im not ready to toss in all my boats. This is all IMO.

Thx Steve, I'm placing my order now. Also, thanks for the heads up on the other cells, there aren't too many sellers out there that care enough to do that.

The 400 cells arrived, so far everything looks good. We are also cycling them to see how they perform. They look like the good versions! Will know and start shipping by tomorrow. Packs and Loose cells.

                    thanks,
                    Steve

2300mah LiIon cells that are big and heavy. They are 3.6V a cell though.

I have I couple of 4200 cells I wanted to replace the dead ones in my 8 cell packs. when I charge them individually, they only accept about 500mah then the peak detection stops the charge. If I restart the charge multiple times I can get them up to capacity. I've discharged them to verify this. Is my peak sensitivity too high? Will this be a problem if I put them in a pack with cells that charge normally?

Who knows with IB4200 cells, these same ones may go back to zero is a day or so.
