          Good Job...
How did you get the can apart ?? I ask because I purchased better bearings for mine and want to install them the next time I pull the motor out.
Also what benefit was gained by removing the shim ??
          thanks in advance
          Steve

I used a hammer on the shaft holding the motor in my hand , and the rear shield will come off .

                        @ Steve :

1 shim is removed because the 2 shims is too much.
Both bearings are pushed to the outside too much ( = friction = heat, etc etc etc) with the 2 shims.

                          Gerwin & Michiel,

The 2 shims issue applies also for the XL? What did you put first on the silicon tube and on top of it the CF?

Yep, same thing for the XL's.
What you see in the pics is plastic.
Small plastic bag, the kind we put our bread in when going to work/school
                            refridgeratorbags are similar ?
The plastic foil you use to keep your food in the kitchen will work to.
                            Or baking/stofe-paper.

How thick were the shims? I had to take mine apart when I saw this and found that there weren't any. I have to add that this motor (a standard KB45) was given to me and apparently they had been removed. I checked the end play and it was 0.003" is this too much?
