    Frequency Boards....Very Important

We were wrapping up a great weekend at the GA championships yesterday, racing was over so the frequency board was put up...

Dad and I set up our LSH's (SV Powered) and put the transmitters in my uncle's and cousin's hands in attempet to gain two more FE addicts.

So there was no one on the water. A nitro guy,who only comes out after the races, was on the dock tinkering. I kindly went over and said, " Hey man i know you arent out here too much so i just wanted to let you know unless otherwise noted the gassers and nitro guys normally will give us our 7 laps before they throw a boat in." SO he went on to say " Yea man i already new that, i already new that." Ok what ever...

SO my uncle and cousin are out there running just fine, one lap , two laps, then (us standing up on the drivers stand) heard a radio turn on. Next thing you know my uncle cant control my boat....we had a runaway!

Hmm...did anybody ask what channel(s) we were on before they turned on a radio??? I dont think so...

My boat slammed the dock wide open at about a 45* angle, straightened out to run parallel to the dock, slammed a stake at the edge of the lake (to hold safety netting which wasnt there because the race was over)....

my boat was trashed.... it broke the deck, deck liner , bottom, and bottom liner. Ill be picking up a new one..

So i ask him "what channel are you on man?", "65 he says". Conviently the same channel I,my uncle, was on... He follows that up with a "i never even turned my radio on... i just picked it up."

Needless to say i was extremly pissed...More so at the fact that i didnt get an apology or anything. He wouldnt even admit to doing it...

I know all this can be avoided by 2.4 but if the radios not broke dont replace it.

IMO there was no reason for this accident...

But if you think about it, a frequency boad wouldnt have even helped. If he didnt take the time to ask im sure he wouldnt walk up from the dock to get a clip...

    Just thought id share.

It is replys like the above that keep a lot of folks out of R/C boating. I have seen too many fights at gas races and fully realize that it takes two 'idiots' to start a physical fight over toy boats.....

            .
i agree that it needs to not go that way but it can be hard to get that way in the heat of the moment...

thats an expensive fix for one ignorant mistake...

had protocol been followed it never would have happened.

Idiot! Unfortunately there are as many idiot (in %) in the RC community than in the rest of the word!... and there are many in the word!
                  Sorry for your boat bro!
When I used to fly giant scale plane, in case there was more than a certain number of pilot flying together, we use to have one guy taking over the control and being the supervisor, everybody find his own interrest in this attitude and accept the supervisor's advices or remarks, if one would not, he was simply not allowed to fly, never happened though. This was, IMO, the only way to counter stupidity or mistakes!

Sorry to hear about that. I believe in the karma thing, What comes around, goes around. Plus if he aint man enough to admit his mistake, he wouldn't be worth punching.

                        IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN

Forgive the guy Case if you haven't already, and watch him like a hawk!!

From now on if we are going to run after a race, OUR frequency board goes up as soon as the AMB board is put away.
We got lucky this time, it could have been much worse.

Actually, I think the club board was still up when he arrived.

Rest assured, there will be a "conversation" with this individual if he comes back. ,and we will be looking for others with the same education.
