Avanti's NEW micro Gator air boat

Well it started when I saw a package deal on ebay for the esc motor and a prop.
I was reminded of my Dumas Lil swamp buggy EP of course when I was younger.
so I decided I would biuld a micro brushless version. The hull measures 10" x 5"
the motor is 2350kv and I will be running a 1450mah 11.1v lipo.
now on to the pics just a couple right now.

The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

    memories

My first venture in to rc was a dumas kit w/ .25. I think it was a swamp buggy. Lots of fun. I have a new (dont remember the name) rtr airboat w/ k&b .45, also nib. If somebody in the club wants to fool with it.

I think we have the same build list! lol. I have been wanting to build a brushless buggy for a while now, I'll be watching this build! Looks like it will be a lot of fun.

I designed the boat myself after the lil' swamp buggy by Dumas
the boat is mostly scrap balsa and a couple 3 dollar sheets of 1/32 ply
the motor, esc, & prop came from the compassstore off ebay for like $22 shipped
the servo also from ebay was like $10 for 2 shipped
the lipo was $20 shipped ebay as well

I will be using my JR XS3 & RS300 for control
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

a few more pics, the rudder is pretty much done you can also see the servo mount.
I have epoxied all the inside corners. the reason I have not put on the botton yet is the it will be easier to fillet the bottom with the deck on than the under side of the deck with the bottom on. (anyway just my logic after a few builds)
                on with the pics...
btw: the servo is a tower pro SG90, & the esc is a 30a mystery

                  Too right there !!
Do we need another section for Airboats yet or do we keep them here for now in the boat building section.
I am warming towards airpower for a new project that I am doing some research on.

Now you guys have me thinking. Santee Sport Scale Airboat (SSSA)?

No driveline assembly, no shaft couplers, no underwater propeller/rudder/turn fin to foul on weeds, and best of all CHEAP!!

The rules should require a small "Barbie" doll (or "Ken" if you are into that sort of thing) as a driver figure. Maybe a laser-cut kit (this would be amazingly simple to do)?

2.5' lol that is 20" taller than the boat is long.

I got the bottom of the hull on and have almost all the epoxy fillet done, there is a small space behind the servo box toward the transom that I need to get to yet. The bow was a bit tricky, but I have it clamped up now and it will be good to go in an hour or so. pics to follow. I might even be able to get some paint on her tonight, if not then tomorrow for sure.
