laying carbon sheet in 25" prince

hey guys i have decided to pull out the battery mount, motor mount receiver mount and servo mount out and put some of that carbon cloth stuff down. I guess i will have to work around the shaft but thats not hard to do. Can someone please find me some of the carbon cloth in an australian online shop cause otherwise it will take ages for the stuff to come if i buy it from honk kong or america. Also i may have a fair bit of trouble getting the motor mount and all the other stuff out because of heaps of araldite around it. any suggestion in how to get the stuff out without damaging the hull or the mounts? and getting rid of all the excess araldite left in the hull??? heres a pic of what i have in mind of getting it ready to lay the stuff down. and can someone tell me how to lay it step by step lol
    thanks alot

Do a google search, same as everybody else probably would. It's not hard.
www.google.com and search for carbon cloth australia!
Careful dremel work will remove the blobs, just be careful not to go through the hull.

Yeah well I don't think it's that bad! Like when I push on the bottom of the hull you can hear the wooden receiver and servo mount creek a bit so that's the main reason why I want to take the servo mount receiver mount and battery tray out and put them back on top of the carbon cloth! But I will work around the motor mount and shaft! Cause I can just reinforce them with some of the carbon cloth aswell! thanks

            Holy new threads.

Just cut, ply, break and finally rip the stuff out. A small flat blade screwdriver works well.

yeah well i managed to get the receiver mount out and the servo mount out. all i have left to do is get rid of the tough glue and sand it as smooth as possible. then maybe the old battery tray. heres a pic of what i have done so far. the piece of wood at the back right is staying there cause firstly i cant get in there and secondly the carbon sheet cant go over the shaft only under so i wont do a bit of the back of the hull if you get what i mean????? also i might have to go with this stuff. cause i can buy my new servo mount with the order and heaps of glue to stick the carbon sheet down

You don't want to use "heaps of glue" use just enough to wet out the cloth. The resin doesn't add any strength just weight, the strength comes from the cloth.
Read up a bit on composite laminating before you begin, once the resin has hardened it's in there for good!

oh ok so you have to cover the whole bottom side of the sheet with glue but only a very thin layer? also do you think one layer of the carbon sheet will be enough? thanks

You use Alcohol to thin the epoxy after mixing it. This will wet the cloth much better. Dont pool or puddle it period. use a flux brush to work the epoxy in wetting the entire carbon sheet thru. Dont put the epoxy on the sheet. Put the sheet into the boat and start in the center and work out.

Make sure to use denatured alcohol like you would for first aid. Vodka doesnt work well....

well i am actually considering not to buy the carbon sheet cause that money needs to go towards the leopard 2200kv motor!! i think the hull will be strong enough how it is! what do you guys think? and it seems to be a fairly big hassle in putting the sheet in.

                              I would do it.

I read somewhere awhile back where it wasnt done and the hulls got many stress cracks. So I did mine early on. First time I just laid carbon up to the wood parts. Second time I ripped all the wood out except servo/radio tray (my wood inside is different then yours).

Take it how you will. I dont have a single stress crack in my hull I can see...

How to lay it down? Cut the cloth to size with SHARP scissors- be very careful. Lay the cloth in the hull right where you want it. Mix the epoxy 50/50 in a bowl- only mix about what you need. Then add some alcohol while stirring it up. Dont be alarmed when it turns a sorta white-ish color. Use a flux brush to apply the epoxy mix from the center working outwards. Dont pool epoxy up and make sure it is soaked in good and wet thru it.

                              Results:
