Lets See If I Finally Get All This

I think i finally may have a handle on all of this...Please let me know if i am wrong on any of it...

    Motor KV Rating 1800KV

    Example 1 : 14.8v = 4S , 14.8 x 1800 = 26,640 = prop speed ( RPM )

    Example 2 : 18.5v = 5S , 18.5 x 1800 = 33,300 = prop speed ( RPM )

    Battery Formula

    4S2P 5000 mah 40c = 14.8v 10,000 mah 40C, so 10.0 ah x 40C = 400 amps
    400. x .80 = 320 so in theory my CC240LV ESC is good to go,correct ?

    5S2P 5000 mah 40C = 18.5V 10,000 mah 40C, so 10.0 ah X 40C = 400 amps( still )
    400. x .80 = 320

So if i have all of this correct

KV rating and Battery voltage = approx. prop speed ( RPM vs motor RPM capacity )

    Mah = approx run time

    C Rating = discharge rate

Now what is still confusing me is the 320 amp draw on a 240 esc, i am sure someone has the math for that to help my country a$$ get my head around it..

Thanks for being patient with a noob.

Your KV/ RPM calculations are correct,,,,Just remember that the calculated RPM is unloaded.

    Still going through the rest.

Mah = approx run time,,,,,,kinda correct.....Mah is more like your gas tank capacity...the more you have the longer you can run.

The 320 amp is what your batteries can supply... since your esc and motor will require less than that, youre good to go

As you can see our conversations have paid off..Lol

back to the ESC deal though , show me an example of what would get me in trouble on the 240LV esc...then i should have it down..

            thanks man,

Assuming the esc made it to ya huh bud?

Also, prop selection and the ride attitude will affect amp draw for any given setup. Run wet and amp draw goes up. Bigger props do the same.

What hull are you planning on running this in? The tunnel?

                  4S2P 5000 mah 20c = 14.8v 10,000 mah 40C, so 10.0 ah x 20C = 200 amps
                  400. x .80 = 160 = badddd. When youre ESC is all the way open pulling 240 amps or whatever... your setup won't be able to supply that... will strain the packs... overheat them... and melt through your hull

Good deal! Mike could probably give you an idea on the amp draw for your setup. He ran the same motor too right? Amp draw will also vary with hull design.

Ok looking at that,my math is actually wrong in the 1st post

                        4S2P 5000mah 40C=14.8v 10,000mah 80C, 10.0 x 40C = 400 amp still
                        But in my post it should have been 800. x .80 = 640 ?

in my 1st post i did not double the 40C or double the amps x .80...

                        lmk if thats correct..
                        thanks

Thats what i thought, but i do double the amps correct ?

Nevermind i figured it out, in my 1st post it was all correct, my buddy jac must have meant 200. x .80 to 160amps...because 400. x .80 = 320...

By no means am i throwing you under the bus amigo i just a bit confused when i saw that, i really appreciate all your help ...

                              thanks to all,
