    Project KOS,P1 Brushless

Just order my Venom King Of Shaves P1 RTR boat today. At 35" mono im wanting to push this thing to the limit. They say the stock esc is 6s stable, anyone tryed it? Im thinking either a Leopard 5692 730kv with a hk 80amp hv on 10s or the 5692 1340kv with a turnigy 180amo on 6s, or even a cc 1717with the cc 240hv. Motor mount sugguestions, motor esc suggestions. Will be here tuesday and wanna get parts on order!!

              My 2 cents.........

The Leopard 4082 1500kv on 6s, paired with the T180a ESC.

Ya thats the same set up im running in my Genesis with a 42mm prop. Maybe take the leopard outta my Genesis and put it in the P1 with another 180amper then stick a bigger motor in my cat. Like the 5692 leopard or the nue 1527 1y1250kv. HMMMMMM

Well whatever you do don't think that 80 amp turnigy hv esc is gonna handle a 5692 leopard!!! If you run the 5692 at bare minimum i would have a 180 am speedo which still will be lucky to survive.... A little overproped and you will wish you had more esc... If you are going to run 6s on a low voltage esc you need to be very careful as you are at it's voltage limits.... I still have a couple hv esc's... The MGM 120hv and a castle hv240 in case you are interested.....I recommend a 1521 neu fir the boat....:) basically much like the 4082 leopard just nicer...lol:)

The 5692 would roll the narrow p-1 hull over. I think a 540 xl motor is perfect for that hull. Its really only 31-inches long and already has handling issues with the stock outrunner. Throwing a bunch of torque in that hull with a big motor will definetly make it go fast, but big motors like big props, and big props on the p-1 will only make it handle worse. I think a good 540xl motor (high rpm setup) with a small prop (40mm) is a good combo for the p-1. Just my 2-cents!

Thanks for the info. Thinking about what you said and kinda like a challenge though, but i dont wanna make this run so fast that i gotta go swimming everytime i run it. Have you owned a P1?

I didnt realize it was 31".......thats the size of a Villain..............a 4082 is too big then......

Here's my suggestion based on the 31" size. This motor should rock on 6s

I have one. The stock outrunner is really cool, and so far runs really well. I actually had an ammo 36-88-1280 motor and turnigy 80-hv ready to go in the p-1 on 6s, but decided there was no room for a prop bigger than 42mm due to clearance issues on the stinger/rudder. A 42mm prop wouldn't be big enough on the ammo to get the speed I was looking for. If I knew this before I got the boat, I would have purchased a higher kv motor to run with a smaller prop. For right now I'm installing a set of turn fins and trying to dial in the trim settings and find the best prop. When you get your boat, check your steering linkage. Mine was bound up and I had to mess with it a bit to get it to work smoothly.

Man i didnt know that a 42mm prop is the biggest it can throw. Thanks for the heads up on that. Ya i think a higher kv motor, smaller prop obv. a 42mm with either a 120 amp or a 180amp on 4-5s shuld be great. What do you think?
