New boast from HK - Mini Cat Twin Hull Offshore

Mini Cat Twin Hull Offshore Style R/C Racing Boat (820mm)

    Specifications.
    Hull length: 820mm
    Width: 240mm
    Weight: 1000g
    Hull Type: Fiberglass hydro-plane
    Motor: 2 x B2848-2636kv water–cooled brushless
    ESC: 2 x 50A watercooled
    Prop: Carbon-reinforced plastic 2 x D36*P1.4 3-blade
    Driveline: Flex-drive
Hardware: CNC aluminum strut and rudders
    Battery: 2 x 11.1v 3000~4500mah Lipo (Not included)
    Channel: 2ch
Servo: 1 x standard size servo (Not included)

Looks like an exact replica of King of Shaves by Venom just different motors and color.

1/2 the price compare to the King, less radio and servo, not bad at all.
Also don't have to wait till mid September to order one.

The battery tray don't seem to be as well designed as Kings, specially if you want to remove it, also the ESC only 50amp, so limits upgrade potentials.
King seems to include Hobbywing 60amo ESC, they are probably better the no-name 50s in his version.

Not bad for a starting point. props are plastic and do not look like they are counter rotating. $220 + shipping definately cheaper than KOS, probably has the same or more upgrade/correction issues. Of course, for about $250 you can buy a nice radio and the upgrade or repair parts.

The Aussies want a pretty penny for it on Ebay @ $369 US !! or so.
They also sell the same Hydroplane as the new Vortex at Hobby King but it's more than twice the price again.

I'll just wait around for Hobby king or elswhere. Just want the hull only maybe squeeze in twin 380 outrunners.

Looks nice. Probably the standard asian hull quality though. I like the price, but am tired of hulls that are not straight. They seem to run just fine though. still, would prefer for them to be straight. that apparition I just picked up, can't believe the amount of ANhydral it has. The inside of the ride pads are about .090" higher than the outside! But a RTR painted hull for $250 with twin drives, not much to work with there for markup.

this one, I like the size though, will have to wait and see the hull quality or lack of. good find

model engines i think is just a importer in Australia,so no can buy unless your a hobby shop etc.the ebay guy is a hobby shop selling them online.
every thing here is expensive from a hobby shop.
i see parts in the u.s for $5 here a lhs sells same parts for $25
the Aussie dollar maybe 10% less but that does not account for the 5 times the price difference. plus most parts are from china and shipping to Aus is cheaper than from the u.s.

I was just told about this hull a little bit ago. My first thought was EKOS. Looks like the same rudder and hull. Im only comparing pics as I do not own an EKOS. Anyway, under 3 bills shipped, even if it needs a little tweaking, doesnt seem like a bad deal. Im with Rip on the paint, not my favorite, but Id still consider it.

Brian, go thru my build thread on the twin HOTR. I straightened my twisted hull w/ ease and it has remained perfect.

i would consider it too but i have a problem with keeping things stock...i would be tearing this one down,,by the time i do all that i might as well just buy just a nice hull and install the components i would really want in the first place..hobby king does make it difficult not to buy from them with the cheap pricing though....i think i would rather have the miss geico

I remember you doing that, thought about it after looking at the apparition I just picked up. But, I will just run it stock and have fun with it. the asian hulls are not necessarily worth it, but when you consider the paint job that is on them, it is really hard to resist! Buy the boat and consider it a parts kit with a nice paint job. i think that the 25" boat range is really going to be popular also.

If i want a nice epoxy/kevlar/carbon hull I will buy a german one or make one myself. There is a place for the asian hulls, I own two now. Just as thier is a place for a hull made of premium materials.
