    Youtube? Good or Bad?

Ok, so some crazed rc boater goes and videos his boat on an insane motor and cells. A setup thats way over the top. But he catches it on video and posts it for the world to see. The problem is people try to copy his setup, not knowing its really a burn up waiting to happen.

It's good for your business Steven!... as long as they come back to you for new motor and ESC!
This is a general problem on the internet, you can't be sure if something is true or fake, even on a forum anybody can come with the most stupid answer, there will always be someone who will believe it!
I believe it's up to each person to verify any bit of information found on the web!

        Its not just one video.

For instance a while back someone ran a kb45 at about 60,000 rpm with Carbon props.

A customer just emailed me and said there is a cat with a 540 8xl and 6s running 65mph or so. I emailed back asking for how many runs.

As long as they don't hunt me down and toss the burnt motors at me.

2200's on 5s might not be such a bad combo in a twin configuration. Can you point me to the video?

Unless the run is timed & continous with a hatch opening and temp check, its all smoke and mirrors, well possible....

This is a big problem with YouTube, etc. No one polices the videos, there is no way to tell what is true or not. What is the setup really? No way to tell, we have to take the poster's word for it. Sure some folks are honest, but plenty of others just want to be seen as studs with the fast boat/car/plane. Then the poor newbie who doesn't know any better tries to duplicate the video setup and...

I know setups I've seen on YouTube probably only last a run or two, or less but that is not addressed in the video. All it says is 'I'm a stud because my boat is really fast...'.

I like youtube because I dont EVER get the chance to see anybody else's boats run. I like to see how different hulls and setups perform. However, the comment about newbies seeing vids of super hot setups and trying to duplicate, I completely agree on. I like vids especially when I've seen the build on OSE to get a real look at how things run. I also like reviewing my own vids, so I can go back to see how my setup ran.
