Back in the 80's I used to run with a guy who owned a street/strip '68 camaro with a supercharged 427 that would run 8.9's at the strip. I don't think the cars in the vids would have kept up (I could be wrong)
Maybe I'm getting old, but I'll stick with the V8's myself.

There are a few striped down Evo's just running on the track that will burn 8.4's to 8.90's, But to have one that you drive everyday and then take it to the track and run low 9.00's, thats awsome, and this 427 with a supercharger ran 8.90S?? what else was done??
Here's more!
The first video, the Evo ran 8.40...and let off the gas..lol

You got me there, while the Camaro was "street legal", it was not what I'd call streetable. AV gas, no back seat etc.
I have to admit the EVO's are insanely fast, street or strip, not just against american muscle cars, but most european sports cars too. (I'd hate to be driving a ferrari enzo and get embarrased by an EVO).
For the money I don't think anyone can beat them.
I still love the american muscle cars ( the old ones), my first car was a 66 chevelle malibu with a mildly modified 350 hp 327. God I miss that car!

Well Im not a hater of Muscle cars really, You just have to understand where I live, everyone is
DIE HARD muscle fans, If you see a guy driving a TransAM, He's probably a die hard muscle fan of those cars and will not let any guy with a sport car thats a 4cyclinder have a second guess, there all kinnda that way, same for the Mustang fans and the dudes with the old school muscle, they all hate to see a fast 4cylinder, The most hated cars around in Alabama would be the SRT-4's, Evo, and of course the STI's. Iv actually got a highly modded SRT-4, running around 488whp and it makes my day getting to strole a nice Z06 or Viper lol Nobody likes that at all, cause thats not what is suppose to happen, 4 banger's back then in like my dads time were consider slow and not a good car for any kind of HP, but now your finding guys on the street with 700hp daily driving 4banger's that still get 25mpg lol thats awsome! Mine actually gets around 23mpg running around on 21lbs. Its all in the fun I guess, here a video of my SRT on 17lbs of boost just playing around at night...

Just curious, how much horsepower do these come out with from the factory?
how much does it cost to bring them up to 600hp?
I saw this article and wondered how this version (80K) would fare against say a new Z06? http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=149010

Yea.lol, Im not to fimiliar with Evo's as Iam with SRT's, Iv actually had two srt4's so I know a good bit more about srts. But I do know a guy, (David Bushur) that tunes Evo 8's and up to the X. He has the highest pump gas daily driven Evo at 9.00's 1/4, he will build and tunes the car for around $8,000. Parts will cost you around $13,000. You may invest that much, but should have a 600hp car. I think its worth it, some don't. Weight on 4bangers at 600hp will most likely out run Muscle cars at 700 with more weight.

Insurance must be lots cheaper for young kids and ricers. When you get older and can afford the insurance on one the ZR1 Corvette is the way to go. IMO way cooler car than any heavily modded 4 banger or any ricer.

Notice how stable the stearing wheel was going that fast?

haha, If I was to buy a car it deffinatly wouldnt be that car, Id buy the ACR Viper 2009 black and red addition. Now thats a mean car. Plus who would spend over 100k for a car not any better than a 670hp ACR Viper at 80k.
And Detox, Show me your Insurance for the ZR-1?....Do you have one lol..
and Insurance for a Ricer car that will smoke that ZR-1 0-180...Ill pay less insurance anyday of the week!!!
One more thing...Who cares about the handling at 210mph...are you going to use that speed everyday....NOPE!...And the Evo MR will handle way better and out run than ZR-1 in autocross Im very sure...
Don't you watch any video's on Top Gear??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AMIoQUCEvY
Ricer 4door busted your v12 a$$!!

Yes I drive mine fast everyday, Just not at 210mph, Face it buddy, You wouldn't have balls to go past 175 on the Interstate...Or you would be a complete dumba$$!!
Besides that car would never see less than 10.90's at a 1/4 if your lucky.. My opinion, get a fast car with better mpg!!

My scanner isn't working.
To tell the truth my real car is a 2002 SS Camaro and the insurance is actually $350.00 every six months. I will soon sell this car and maybe buy the new 2010 SS Camaro. I am old school so I've allways loved the the sound of big american V8's.
You can see my car her in this tread...post #42

Looking at my avatar you can tell I am a big Corvette fan:

Nice...atleast it's a Chrysler product. Those turbos make crazy power in any vehical.
My Camaro made 450hp 460ftlbs of torque @ rear wheels using 100 shot of nitrous, small cam, headers. With some good chassis work, clutch, and slicks it is capable of 11's...it weighs alot.
All it takes is money. How much do you want to throw away? .
