What do you call a group of ORCAs???

I've been pretty busy in the shop lately, getting a few orcas built. I wanted to build up a couple more for my son and I to race so that I could leave the record setting boats just like they are. It just don't seem right putting an Aquacraft 36-56 back in the yellow one, and then changing back to the big TP for the October record trials.

        Hi Don:

You ran that black one at the Cup this year correct?

I call it disturbing but that's just me.

Don, if you get a chance I need a nice light Triton sport for spring.

Yes Doby, the carbon top one. And Doug was running a red one.

Ah, Peter. Did you Wikipedia it like I had to do?

Terry, disturbing??? but I do understand that it doesn't take much to disturb you, right?
Man. I keep looking at that mold and wondering how to do it. All those corners and angles and tight places in the sponsons, scares me.

Me too. I'm ignorant. I have no idea how you get up in there.

We're off on a tangent but do think it would be worth building some back flanges? So that you end up with a larger surface that you can just bond together.

Glad you found time to breed the Orcas though. Nice collection. Are they all strong as granite like the others?

Well I thought they were really strong but my son and Tom showed me some flaws. The new ones that I have built have some added glass cloth and tapes, that should fix that.

But yes, the Orca's should be pretty tough cause I am doing the same with them too. Added a layer of cloth to the top and another layer with epoxy to the hull. I flipped the record setting one a couple of times in Huntsville, while at ridiculous speeds for such a little lightly built boat (it's a P-limited boat ya know) and it cracked the top deck near the back. Doug made me repair it with cloth and epoxy, then made fun of my sloppy work. I told him I don't care cause I'll just make another one! Then I turned the driving over to friend Brad Schafer because he is a much smoother driver than I am. Then in a couple of minutes, he had the record. The hull was not meant to go quite that fast so I was expecting to have some damage. I was just hopping that it would hold together long enough, and it did.

I'm gonna take em back to the next record run as is, but I think for next years attempts i'll make some with a little more reinforcement in them.

I may take a run at it with my yellow drag boat. With nobody else on the water I might be able to turn.
