Okay, let's try this again! Ha!

The first thing I did was to cut out the wooden rails so I could get my battery packs into the sponsons.

Added Carbon Fiber from the front bulkhead to the transom.

Next, trial fitted the motor, a Feigao 580 10L and Williams Mount.

Note the "classic" hatch for the Sprintcat turned around backwards! Makes for a much sleeker appearance.

              Cool, what voltage? 6s1p, 6s2p...
It is quite difficult to place a 6s lipo 5000 mah in the sponsons, I cut also some part of the deck edges

6S2P. Yes, you can't squeeze 5000's into the sponsons. I have some 4350's that will fit. A friend of mine is running two 3S in series and then paralleled with another set. (3S2S2P?)

I didn't think of cutting the lip slightly! I'll check that out. Otherwise I was going to have to order some more 4350 batts! My original plan was to put the batts behind the motor but no way to achieve the COG that way.

I run 6S2P/4500s behind the motor and the boat runs great.

Looks good so far jim how long untill your finished ?. I got my hull the other day . I also need to cut the stock wood rails out to do what randy did. But i dont feel comfortable doing that with my very limited knowledge of boats . Im thinking about sending it to randy for him to convert instead .

From the side view the cowl looks half way decent.

                      Jay,

Out of curiousity that tailgate looks familiar, an "indyram" or a Dakota?

The fan blows into the motor and across the ESC. Helps with cooling since the hull volume is large. Plenty of room for everything necessary and leaves the sponsons for the most important function - flotation! . There is no advantage to running the packs in the sponsons, this boat handles great as you see it and has made official SAW passes in the 80s. While it seems intuitive that a low CG should help handling, in reality this is not the case in the cats I've played with. In fact ten years ago several club members tried it both ways with Key West cats and found that placing the packs on the tunnel gave superior handling on a tight (very tight!) course. I put them where it is easiest, handling is not the issue.

                            Dakota R/T tailgate.

                            .
