Ok I wanted to start a thread just for the rescue boats so the incoming r/c new guys will have a basis to go off of so show em off, tell us what you did to them, ect.

Cheap to r/c tug - gutted : Installed 900 kv out runner, 40 amp esc and custom pontoons. I've got pieces of 1/4'' ply as pontoons w/ 3/4"x3/4" wood dowels protruding from the front . all has plastic dip sprayed over the wood for waterproofing and foam noodle in casing it as well for flotation and protection. she goes really well and has a great battery life!! i use my blade cx2 lipos for it and my plane/ heli transmitter. not the best pictures for construction but you get the idea..

Here's my Villain Ex, it worked great last season but the arms are wider now to fit Sport 40's and scales.
It now has the 2.4ghz Tactic radio from my UL-1 so no more conflicts at races and there's a spot to carry out a tennis ball on a fishing line so maybe two rescues with one trip.
And some red strobes from a bike taillight.
I'll try to get some action shots when the pond thaws.

DaTurtle to DaRescue:
Hull is 22” long X 11” beam, constructed from 1” & 2” craft grade styrofoam sheet, covered with 2 layers of 4 oz. fiberglass, cockpit sides are 1/4” solid poplar with 1/8” plywood cover. Lower unit is 1977 or 78? era K&B, hand wound brushed motor (45 turns of 24 AWG), cooling coil & brush end bell cooler fabricated by me. Prop is a Grim Racer 42X55 (sent to me by Tower with a defective blade), with some of the front hub filed off to clear the water pick-up tube on the leg. It wouldn’t get up on plane with a 7.2 volt NiMH pack, but barely does with an 8.4 volt pack. Added 11.5 ounces of lead up front to keep the nose down. I haven’t actually used it for a rescue - - YET !!!

Zambezi canoe

My rescue craft is my trusty inflatable Zambezi canoe.

Keeps me fit paddling after the SV27 crash machine.

I also use it to fish the local fresh water rivers.

Love it !! light and folds up into a small water Prof bag.

I have to say that after running my maritimo people always seem to enjoy watching the tug more!! Cracks people up...

My Rescue Barge

Here is my RC rescue boat that I built out of PVC. Nice thing about PVC is its cheap, easily scalable, if your needs change, and easy to work with.
The somewhat unique feature of my design is that it incorporates a lifting mechanism to lift partially submerged or flipped boats above the water and then haul them back to shore.
The lifting mechanism use a giant 1/4 scale servo to lower and lift a wire rack on a winch over an 18" range.

Here is another PVC rescue craft. Pretty much copied Diegoboy's one. Took a couple of desings but it works pretty well. Here it is in action towards the end.
