What to do with Fine Design?

Well, after 8 months of headache and heartache my RTR Fine Design built boat is still not running nor did it run correctly from new. After now $2888 to Chris Fine for this boat and still not running what would you do? Some of you remember me posting when I bought it. I defended Chris Fine all summer as he told me he would make things right. Now he tells me times are tough for him and I am on my own. Would you go after him for the price of the boat? Would you let it go? I am not into bashing but need to vent and let other people know to beware.

Spend $75 for a letter from an attorney. Best way to handle it.

This has a history so I would not feel a bit bad! Hell if I were out $200 I would have an attorney to get after him. No damages you just want the money back plus you r any lawyer expenses. If no reposne in 30 days then a suit will be filed against him and his company. Along wiht a cc to the better business burea and anyone else I could find in his area...city Chamber of Commerce, etc.

Dude, by now this guy desserves a bad trader warning..
This economy has prompted the vicious to show their true colors.
I wouldn't give him any slack, these people are ripping off felloe men and are doing it with their fork and knife out and licking their chops.

I've been getting ripped off lately for big loot like that and and after pulling the cloak off their schemes, turns out they had EVERY intention on hosing me.

Just look at it that way when dealing with it. You sound like a nice guy like me, and these days sharks see it coming from a mile away and sharpen their knife and fork as they coax you in.

I would pirsue it to the bitter end. Don't go through heartache, or be distraught over this guy, he's not your lady. He's an individual who conciously decided to RIP YOU OFF
and is enjoying fishing trips, bar tabs, ugly women, and fancy dinners on your dime.

Hopefully that sends you in the right direction..

Maybe you can negotiate a partial refund as the product is "not as stated" or return the boat for a full refund? Keep it all in writing and if not, take legal action. I understand your frustration. Even in these tough times, this is no way to treat a customer. Especially when a product doesn't not meet your expectations or the advertised claims.
He did state that it would do 15 mins. runtime @ 65 mph in writing or email?

I guess times were always bad for him, because he's been shafting people for a long time now.

I have nothing in writing from him, just phone conversations. I did go thru my phone bill and have proof that I have called Chris Fine 117 times this summer. I also have proof he overcharged me. The thing that pissed me the most is he has had my Caslte 240HV for over 2 months and blamed castle for the hold up. Turns out he owes Castle for other things and they wouldn't return my stuff to him until he paid. Castle was kind enough to send it to me fixed. I was way over promised and under delivered. I have asked to return the whole boat at my shippin cost for a refund. He said no. I told him I would take a small hit on it and he still said no. I just wanted what I was told. I did look into his ebay and out of 7 transactions he is 66% positive. I have have over 300 transactions and am 100% positive. I either want a boat that performs as promised or my money back. Am I out of line????

117 Calls? Obviously you were not satisfied with the product. You may want to take all documentation and correspondence and seek legal advice. Perhaps he will try to work something out when faced with a legal challenge.

I'm sorry to hear this. I remember you posting before, but forget all the particulars. He does normally build a good boat. How bad is this it?

Yea, $2800 aint pocket change. I'd file on him in your county's muni court. If he doesnt show, he gets that lean against him and he wont be able to buy a book of matches with a credit card until he pays it off..
