Viva las Vegas BUILD ELECTRIC STYLE

Ok here we go..I bought this Miss Vegas project in the Swap shop from the King of 27's

it needs a strut and drive hardware everything else seems to be set up really nice
I bought a bearing strut and a .078 wire drive...in the pics you will see that my strut bracket is too short so I'm getting a 2" FDM longer one.....my next problem is that I want to use the existing stuffing tube but it doesnt accept my new bearing strut (the brass tapered end doeant match up to the existing tube) so I'm getting a 5/32" K&S tube and will slide it into my existing tube and then that should slide into the brass end tapered strut and heatshrink it all together.......I also need the 2" extention bracket because right now it doesnt put the leading edge of my rudder even with my drive dog

I am open to all suggestions and help Please

Man you gots way too much space inside that hull! wait till you see what I got to work with...

Why don't you use a different rudder? I got one for ya that I have on my other hydros that works great! will simplify the strut bracket issue and all. I will post pics of what I have for my Elam build, and see if you might dig. I don't know that we need as much distance from transom to rudder on hydros.

        parallel hydro set up

I thought I would jump in here as well and parallel my build with Bustit. I got a 1/12" proboat Miss Elam - nitro conversion hull. I didn't realize the tight working space until I got my hands on it. She is gorgeous and I have to make it work. I just got em stickers on. needless to say I just got me a new digicamera, so been shootin every angle. My wife is starting to wonder... Rather I think this is damning evidence on my part.

Here is my biggest challenge in this build. the limited working space. Bustit, you are lucky with all that room, check this out. Any ideas on making motor AND batts fit AND having acceptable COG?

26" by 14" wide. Motor will probably the the UL motor as well, with my Xpower ESC (both are in my mono right now) and 2x2S lipo packs. This is the hardware I will use. Kinda in rush right now, getting ready to go to 4 day conference this week.

This hardware will put the rudder somewhat in front of the prop, I'm not worried about this, cause it has worked fine on my other hydro. I don't know whether the rudder LE and drive dog alignment is so critical with these guys, if someone has opinion on this please share.

I have the added challenge to put as much gear as possible in the motor compartment, cause right now - before hardware on the rear, the COG is right at the back of the blue checker pattern... waaaaaay too far back. This is a beautiful scale boat, but not very well designed on this respect.

I was either thinking adding nose weight (lead) or cutting battery hatches in the sponsons (ouch). Other ideas were to cut out ply lining the motor compartment and running batteries into sponsons from the inside..... HELP I am still searching for the cleanest and lightest way to get my COG in order.

is it feasable to cut that partition out and move the motor mount back far enough that batts would fit in between the nose and the back of the mounted motor? and if two batts then stack them foat on top of each other....just a thought

Good question, what are the consequences of having rudder too far behind vs too far in front of prop? And what is the tolerance? more than 1" in front of is too far? more than 1" behind?

Another option for boosting COG frontward is to mount the motor way up in the cowl, where the driver will be. then pack the batts just behind... ARG. How is your COG B?

I hadn't thought of moving the motor BACK, but now that you mention it, might see just how far back I would need to go...
