You don't need to build a "bank" as long as you know what specs you want just buy one cap.

This place has 3 different ones to choose from...

You can find others at www.newark.com

    Later,
    Mike

Isn't running more smaller caps in parallel better at dissipating heat. Rather then using one large one?

Ive been doing some research on-line.
I'm going to make one using 35A 470uF caps that i can get locally for $0.35 each.
I'm going to make a PCB using cool software that i downloaded. the copper plate, and chemicals are available from the same local vendor. Id rather not use the "perf board"
Ill post some pics when its done. Not sure when that will be.
          Thanks for the input.

          Steve.

              Steve,

This is how i added the extra caps to my Hydra 240HV ESC.
I think the pictures tell the tail.
              And water cooled .

Absolutely. Do not run the standard mill or normal commercial off the shelf caps. They are not rated for the operating freq. we need in our speedos. The reason you need to use ultra low esr caps is because as frequency or switching increases so does the internal resistance of the cap.

Thats why they get hot. As resistance increases they actually consume some battery energy. But its only waste heat. Thats why we use low or ultra low esr caps. They dont get as hot over time. Use a cheapie and you just increased your chances of popping one or worse.

I just got back from A1 electronics, its a really cool store in toronto.
I piked up a pile of 35v 470uF low esr caps. I also got a couple of pcb's.
Should have one built within a couple of days, just need to get some ferric chloride. Should be their on Wed.
Ill post some pics when i get one finished.

I would do those lines as thick as physically possible... I burnt one like this. There's also less to corrode.
