I have no idea how accurate a cell phone gps would be... or if you even want to risk a cell phone getting wet. I'd highly suggest grabbing a small garmin gps... you can grab an etrex for like 40 bucks and they work awesome.

I'd assume the phone would be accurate but again, can't tell you much unless we know what phone it is and such

I use Cyclewatch for my iPhone and according to my car's speedo, it's pretty accurate. I have put my phone in my MG in a zip lock baggie with no issues.

found a lot of similar apps on the droid market, but nothing that seems like it would do the job.

Back them up to google.. I have like 5 gps speedo apps on my epic but still bought a garmin forerunner 201. Didn't think id like it cause it loses gps when testing it in the car but nice small accurate and water proof when it works luckily I had no problems with it today and good thing it was water proof kept losing hoses forgot to zip tie

If its an android phone which I'm assuming it is then everytime you put a number in it it stores to google online. So if you buy a new android phone you just log into your google account and then sync and download contacts its a great feature used it twice already

put a dyno app or something that measures G-forces. :D that would be fun

Speculation! You wont know until you get the app and throw your phone in there

The App I have has to get a good long run or it wont be accurate. The first time I GPSed my MG with the Castle outrunner, I got 25mph and I was like, WTH?! But then I went full throttle the length of the pond and got 49mph. There is a delay so you have to give it enough time to actually record the highest speed.
